GOD WANTS MERCIFUL MEN

MercyMatthew 5:7: "Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy."

God calls for merciful men--men who are not hard-nosed, heavy-handed, or over-bearing.

Men, the Scriptures make it abundantly plain that our God is indeed a very merciful God. Numbers 14:18: "The LORD is longsuffering, and of great mercy, forgiving iniquity and transgression, and by no means clearing the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation."

Jeremiah 33:11: "Praise the Lord of hosts: for the LORD is good; for his mercy endureth forever."

Lamentations 3:22: "If is of the LORD'S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness."

Because we have received such great mercy through our Lord Jesus Christ, we of all people, should show mercy to our fellowmen. Men, our wives and families should know us to be merciful. Why is it that so many Christians condemn, criticize, and harshly judge one another? Someone has aptly said that the Christian church is the only army that shoots its own wounded.

Jesus told the story of the Good Samaritan in Luke 10:33-37. He was not Jew, but showed great mercy and compassion to the man who was stripped of clothes, beaten, robbed, and left to die on the road going to Jericho. But the Jewish priest and Levite were not merciful and passed by on the other side of the road. They trusted in God's mercy toward themselves and yet were not prepared to show the same mercy to a wounded fellow man on the same road they traveled.

To be continued.

Be encouraged.

ARE YOU SPIRITUALLY STARVING?

SpirituallyStarvingRevelation 3:17 states: "Because you say, 'I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing'--and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked."

Perhaps one of the saddest states we can find ourselves in is when we should be hungry but we are not. When one fasts for any prolonged length of time the body's natural hunger for food begins to wane after about the third or fourth day. After awhile, all hunger and carving for food leaves. The body begins to feed on itself and eventually will die if not provided nutrients through food.

Spiritually speaking, the same principle applies. Much of the church is on a starvation diet. We provide at least three meals a day for our bodies while we starve the spiritual man with one meal per week. Many times, even the Sunday sermon may not be all that nutritious. Some do not even care that much about the one meal per week provided by the pastor who may himself be on a spiritual starvation diet.

What a sad state when there are Bibles everywhere and yet most people are spiritually starving themselves, and yet not even aware what is happening to their inner man.

While visiting Auschwitz concentration camp in Poland recently we saw many photographs of pitiful, frail, starving Jews who were only skin and bones. Millions of Jews were worked and starved to death in only two months after arrival at this camp (and there were many other extermination camps just like Auschwitz). These six million plus people were forced to labor with beatings and starvation.

The truth is that we are not being forced to spiritually starve and yet we are starving and do not know it. Like those who fast, we have passed the point of hunger and we are on the brink of spiritual death. We desperately need revival to arrest this great problem.

Be encouraged.

LACK PROMOTES HUNGER

Psalm34-15Proverbs 14:34 states: "Righteousness exalts a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people."

Another thing that should make us hunger and thirst for righteousness is the lack and need of it. Watching Fox News last night one could not help but feel frustrated and indignant about a convention on public school curriculum. At this convention, extreme leftwing professors instructed thousands of teachers on how to indoctrinate our nation's children with their extreme views of social justice. This should drive us all to urgent prayer that the hearts and minds of our nation's youth will be saved from such evil indoctrination.

All Christians should refuse to allow their children's minds to be polluted with such evil. They should remove them en masse in order to wake up the government.

The lack of righteousness in much of our main institutions of government should also cause us to hunger and thirst after righteousness. The rioting and angry demonstrations, coupled with looting and burning, should also drive us to an ever-increasing hunger and thirst for righteousness.

We desperately need more righteous leaders. We urgently need more righteousness in the White House. If our nation is to again be exalted it will only be through righteousness. Sin, without doubt, brings our nation to a state of reproach.

I know many of you feel grieved at the deluge of evil that floods our government, schools, media, cities, and nation--as well as other nations. We must use this sense of grief to hunger and thirst for righteousness. We reveal our concern by how much we pray.

Be encouraged.

GROWTH PROMOTES APPETITE

Growthpromotes1 Peter 2:2 says: "As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby."

Just as healthy growing children have good appetites, so we must always be increasing in our appetite for righteousness. Growth is a healthy thing in young people. Shoes and clothes quickly become too small. It's a good thing!

The only way to satisfy a hungry appetite is to feed it!

Fathers and mothers must also do all they can to promote spiritual hungry appetites in their children. It is imperative that we prove daily doses of God's Word, coupled with prayer in a way that promotes an ever increasing appetite in them for God and for righteousness.

Parents are responsible before God for the creation of spiritual growth in their children. And growth promotes appetite. Even though there comes a time in the natural order that young people reach their full height and their appetite settles down somewhat, we must never stop growing in the spiritual realm.

God is calling for spiritual giants. We become spiritual giants by the divine force of growth. Parents, we must grow spiritual giants who have a ravenous appetite for righteousness. These are the young people who will flood the world with righteousness. But we cannot do this unless we ourselves have a continual increasing hunger for righteousness. We lead the way.

Be encouraged.

ARE YOU HUNGRY AND THIRSTY? (continued)

BlessedThirst"Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled" (Matthew 5:6). I believe the filling is dependent upon the extent of our hunger and thirst. The first filling of the Holy Spirit followed a ten day continual prayer meeting of hungry, thirsty people.

Without doubt they needed much more than their natural gifts and talents to fulfill the great commission of making disciples for Christ in all nations. Their Messiah had just been put to death by a hostile, devil-inspired, religious people because He proclaimed the truth. They would proclaim this same truth and knew they would face the wrath of the devil. They knew they needed to be filled with the promised power of the Holy Spirit if they were to see an evil world converted to a salvation of righteousness. They hungered and thirsted for this power that would enable them to lead nations to Christ.

Men, as fathers we owe it to our children to give them the legacy of a father who is filled with the Holy Spirit and power from on high. If we are going to be filled with righteousness and our children filled with righteousness we most certainly need to be filled with the Holy Spirit.

Are you hungering and thirsting after this righteous blessing?

Be encouraged.

ARE YOU HUNGRY AND THIRSTY?

blessed righteousnessToday we continue the series, THE BEAUTIFUL ATTITUDES which I was writing to you before leaving for Europe.

"Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled" (Matthew 5:6).

God is calling for men whose utmost desire is to seek after righteousness. How wonderful it would be if each one who calls himself "Christian" would have an insatiable hunger and thirst for righteousness, not only for their own lives, but also for their city, state, nation, and the world.

This hunger and thirst should, and can be, so great that it drives us to our knees in earnest prayer that all ungodliness and corruption will cease and that godliness will flood the land.

Men, all the while the prayer meetings are empty and unattended, or if they are lifeless and without passion, it reveals our failure to hunger and thirst for righteousness.

When someone is deprived of food and water, they soon become desperate for these essential commodities of life. If we were genuinely, both individually and corporately, hungry and thirsty for righteousness, the prayer meetings would be packed full of people crying out to God.

We can say ever so quickly that we love righteousness, but how much do we hunger and thirst for it? It is only the hungry and thirsty who are promised the filling. It is not for those who merely make casual requests for it.

Prayer meetings are really for the hungry and thirsty. The rest may as well stay home. They will only take up the time with insincere and impassionate empty words.

Men, where are the hungry and thirsty? They are crying out to God?

Be encouraged.

I WANT GOD TO BLESS AMERICA

GodBlessAmericaWe cannot call ourselves Christians or a follower of God if we do not agree with Him. A true Christian agrees with God's judgments and decisions. God has clearly made known His judgments on homosexuality, let alone gay marriage.

Men, to those who want to defend their acceptance of homosexual marriage on the basis of Scripture where Jesus states in Matthew 7:1, "Judge not that ye be not judged" does not mean that we should not judge between right and wrong. We all make judgments every day regarding what we should do or not do. If we should not judge , why do we present oral arguments before nine judges at the Supreme Court?

Those who wrote their disagreements regarding yesterday's post on the basis of being judgmental have also placed their judgment on me.

We are told over and over in the Scriptures that we must judge righteously (John 7;24; 1 Corinthians 6:2-5; 10:15; and 11:13 etc.). What Jesus is saying is that we should not bring our anger on people we disagree with, e.g. make a physical application of vengeance. Matthew 26:52: "All that take the sword shall perish with the sword."

Regarding homosexuality God very clearly reveals His judgment on the matter by warning after warning. There are at least 39 mentions of Sodom,. Sodomite, and Sodomites in the Old Testament and at least ten in the New Testament. All are given as warnings so that we will make righteous judgments and decisions, now and forever.

I want God to bless America.

Be encouraged.

AN HISTORIC DAY IN OUR NATION--PLEASE PRAY!

lev1822Today the Supreme Court begins hearing oral arguments on the highly controversial subject of gay marriage. Please pray. Pray with your families. Don't let anything hinder you from praying.

As I have previously written on this subject, I am highly opposed to all homosexual behavior. As a dedicated Christian who knows what the Holy Bible clearly states about homosexuality, I have no choice but to reject it, because God rejects it. Leviticus 18:22 says, "Thou shalt not lie with mankind as with womankind: it is abomination."

Homosexuality is not natural for it goes against the natural God-given function of men and women. We must not allow our minds to be twisted by some that propound that "they were born that way." This means they have no choice in the matter and it would be unfair for God or man to judge them as sinners.

I ask the question: "Are prostitutes born prostitutes? Can thieves cannot help themselves because they were born thieves? Do murderers murder because they were born murderers? Give me a break. Some say they know gays who are wonderful neighbors and friends, therefore it would be wrong to judge them. People can say, and do say the same about murderers, rapists, and thieves. Most people, no matter what they do in the dark can often appear to be friendly neighbors and workmates to unsuspecting people.

The evil of homosexuality, like all sin, is contagious if unchecked. We must never forget that just as Sodom and Gomorrah were judged by God with a massive overthrow of fire and brimstone (Genesis 18 ad 19) so were many powerful empires brought down when homosexuality was at its highest level, e.g. the Roman Empire.

The fact that there are those who support gay marriage, giving it the same status as the marriage of one man and one woman denigrates holy wedlock which was initiated and ordained by God in the beginning.

Marriage is a holy institution. Genesis 23, 24 says: "And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man. Therefore shall a MAN leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his WIFE: and they shall be one flesh."

Those who fear God will stand against legalizing gay marriage for the Bible makes it clear that this sin brings judgment from God on cities, nations, and empires. Just because we may feel safe at this present time does not mean to say that judgment will not come. Remember Noah's flood. Remember Sodom and Gomorrah. God has not changed.

I believe God loves all sinners enough to send His only beloved son, Jesus Christ, to die for our sins. All we have to do is repent and be converted. It is right that we should love all homosexuals, but hate their sin. Even as we should love all sinners, but at the same time hate their sin.

The so-called Christians who support gay marriage do not adhere to the same Bible that I seek to adhere to. Nor do they serve the same God that I seek to worship. Just as God is indeed a God of AMAZING GRACE, He is also a God who judges those who trifle and abuse His grace.

Galatians 6:7, 8 says: "Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting."

Be encouraged.

BACK FROM EUROPE

befruitfulince coming home from our speaking trip in Europe I have been very busy catching up on many things needing my attention. I am now back to writing for MEAT FOR MEN.

I felt that our time in Hungary, Ukraine, Poland, The Netherlands, and Belgium was anointed of the Lord and the message of encouragement to have and raise the godly seed was hopefully accepted. All these countries have very low birth rates and churches desperately need the vision as to why they need to resist the tide of humanistic opinion. They do not in any way take into account God's mandate to be fruitful, multiply, fill the earth, subdue, and take dominion (Genesis 1:28). These European nations are halving themselves within the space of approximately 30 years and without immigration of Islamics and other non-Christian cultures they will quickly become extinct. It's just a matter of time which is quickly running out.

Everywhere we went the people treated us with loving and generous hospitality. We thank God for the health and strength He has given us to travel and take so many hours of public speaking. While in Poland I turned 75 years on April 1`st. Apart from a bone spur in my left heel which slows me down somewhat I feel very healthy. God is good.

MEN OF BACKBONE

StoodUpIt takes men of backbone to speak the truth.

Men who are wishbones wish that things were better. They wish they had the prosperity of past years. They wish God would answer their feeble prayers. They wish that someone else would speak up for them.

But they themselves will not lift a finger or a toe to make a solid stand for truth.

IT'S HIGH TIME FOR MEN WITH REAL BACKBONE TO SPEAK UP FOR TRUTH.

NOW IS THE TIME!

IntercessoryPrayerNow is NOT the time for coffee and tea gatherings or prayer breakfasts where we do more talking and breakfasting than praying. Now is not the time for levity, laughing, joking and telling funny stories.

Now is the time for us to take military action in the spirit realm.
Now is the time for us to pray as families for those who are being downtrodden, beaten, and persecuted.

NOW IS THE TIME TO GET SERIOUS AND ARM OURSELVES TO DO BATTLE.

WHERE IS OUR ZEAL?

MoreZealMen, if we have no zeal, we are like gasoline without octane. What man wants to drive a car that has no "get up and go"? Come on! Sluggishness is definitely something we men cannot stand when it comes to driving cars or working any kind of machinery, including computers.

Some may thank that zeal sounds a little fanatical, but the truth is that most of us could do with a bit more of it! Some, a lot more of it!

True zeal spurns compromise, especially when it comes to principles. Jesus acted with zealous fanaticism to cleanse the house of God. John 2:17 tells us that it was zeal that motivated his actions.

If it's okay for communists, socialists, progressives, and Islamics to be zealots, what about Christians?

The Greek word for "zeal" is zecos meaning "heat, ardor, fervent mind." It's most important for us men to be zealous for our families, our homes, our principles, our work or career, and most important of all, our service to God. A man without zeal will tend to be overly casual. He will be a "moocher" (Do you know this word? We use it in New Zealand and Australia for loitering about aimlessly.)

A man lacking zeal is like trying to drag around a heavy weight. He has no spring in his step, no oomph in his personality, no twinkle in his eye, and no passion for anything. He is like a dead man walking. He is a bore to be around, a fire without heat, a drag on society. This is not the man being created into the image and likeness of God (Romans 8:29).

THE DEVIL CREATES ZOMBIES. GOD CREATES MEN WITH FIRE IN THEIR BONES.

Zeal knows no apathy. It deplores laziness and slackness. It believes in creativity, enthusiasm, and a job well done. Zeal cannot tolerate sitting around and accomplishing nothing (mooching!)

Zeal loves motivation. It rejoices in challenges. It will fight for what is right.

Seven times the Bible mentions God possessing and acting with zeal. Zeal is a great motivator. If God uses it to get things done, so should we. Isaiah 9:7 says, "The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this."

Be encouraged.

TIME TO BE BOLD

LionsProverbs 28:1: "The righteous are as bold as a lion."

God Himself is bold. He despises fear and cowardice. The nation desperately needs bold men and women who will raise bold children for our present and future battles against all that is godless and unrighteous. We must be bold enough to defy all our enemies right to their proud haughty faces.

1 Chronicles 12:8: "And of the Gadites there separated themselves unto David into the hold to the wilderness men of might, and men of war fit for the battle, that could handle shield and buckler, whose faces were like the faces of lions, and were as swift as the roes upon the mountains." These Gadites, whose faces had a lion-like look about them must have indeed been bold men. These mighty men came to help King David, but King Jesus, who is the heavenly David, is surely worth fighting for.

Acts 4:13: "Now when they saw the BOLDNESS of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marveled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus." In the face of persecution, Peter and John did not act like timid lambs or nervous mice. Their boldness caused their persecutors to marvel. They realized that the source of this boldness did not come from education, for they were "unlearned" men. They also understood that this boldness did not come from knowledge, for they were "ignorant" men. But, they "took knowledge of them that they had BEEN WITH JESUS." This was the real source of their boldness.

The more time we spend with Jesus, the bolder we will be. Their persecutors did not know that Jesus had just baptized His disciples with power from on high which turned the denying Peter into the bold confessor.

Great boldness to testify for Jesus in the face of hot persecution is the greatest evidence of our claim to be filled with the Spirit of God. Those who spend time with Jesus are the most likely ones to experience great boldness.

God is calling for bold men! Will you be one?

Be encouraged.

WHICH ROAD?

Matthew7-13-14God looks for men who will deny themselves the easy road, especially if the easy road includes the lusts of the flesh and yielding to temptations. Everything is acceptable on the easy road, as long as it makes you feel good and requires no moral resistance. Homosexuality is okay on the easy road, as is divorce, abortion, drugs, sex, alcohol, and witchcraft.

Matthew 7:13-14 says: "Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way which leadeth until life, and few there be that find it."

WHAT DOES THE EASY ROAD LOOK LIKE?

Little prayer
Little Bible
Little work for God
Little sacrifice
Little hospitality
Little giving
Little witness
Little families
Living close to the world
Enjoying the world
No to homeschooling
Living on handouts
Let others pay

WHAT DOES THE HARD ROAD LOOK LIKE?

Give me this mountain, e.g. Caleb (Joshua 14:6-15).
The road of mountains and battles with giants
Calling upon the Lord
Sacrifice
Risk-taking
Hard work
Denying the flesh and worldly lusts (2 Corinthians 11:25-30)
The way of the cross

Which is your road?

GET SPARKY

SparkMen who do not have "spark" are bland and boring. Their eyes are dull and lifeless. They have no oomph in their personality or spring in their step.

We know how bad it is when we keep pulling the rope to start the engine of the lawnmower but there is no spark. You feel like throwing the wrench at it! No woman should marry a man like this and no one should ever hire such a man.

Spark denotes life. As men get older, they tend to lose their spark and zest for life, but I do not believe that it has to be this way. Men should take all the corrective measures possible to stop themselves from oxidizing and getting rusty. We know that drugs, alcohol, and pornography can ruin a man's personality. Sitting around and living a sedentary lifestyle, coupled with laziness, and not showing initiative, also takes the spark out of a man.

Mountain climbers would never dream of taking a man without any spark on such a dangerous expedition. God also wants men like Abraham and Caleb with lots of spark to climb His mountains.

Remember, it only takes a few sparks to get a fire going. The best sparks come from Christians filled with the Holy Spirit. Reading God's Word and praying daily are an excellent combination to create sparks.

DARE TO BE DIFFERENT

EBurkeQuoteMen, if we are going to be men of courage, we must speak up for what's right when the opportunity presents itself. If you have got any truth in you, for goodness sake, SAY IT! Do not hide truth behind closed doors.

Edmund Burke wrote, "All it takes for evil to flourish is for good men to do nothing."

God is calling for all Christian men to use every opportunity possible to be light shiners and salt preservers. It is high time for us men to tell it the way it is, no matter who is listening. We may get persecuted for it. We may lose our job for it. Even our friends at church, who we wish to impress, may despise us when we do not toe the party line. So what! It's time for men to "play the man" and get rid of all that is yellow and gutless.

No more time for powder puffs who hold their peace when the sword should be drawn.
