THE FORGOTTEN WORD, PART 2
"And Ruth said to Naomi, Entreat me not to leave thee, or to return from
following after thee: for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou
lodgest I will lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God:
Where thou diest, will I die, and there will I be buried: the LORD do so to
me, and more also, if aught but death part thee and me"
(Ruth 1:16, 17).

When a couple walk down the aisle and confess their marriage vows before God and man, they are making a commitment "until death do us part." It is a covenant which God takes very seriously. Proverbs 2.17 speaks about the wife who "forsakes the husband of her youth and forgets the covenant of her God." God also talks to the husband in Malachi 2.14, saying: "The LORD has been witness between thee and the wife of thy youth."
It is time the forgotten words of commitment, faithfulness, and convent-keeping came back into marriage. Away with pride, selfishness, and independence, which are devastating marriages today. Where are the men and women who will take up the banner of commitment, even in the face of difficulties?
I believe that it takes more than love to keep a marriage together. It takes
COMMITMENT to love- a commitment to build a stronger marriage, a commitment to build a secure and stable home to bring up well adjusted children. Commitment will keep the marriage together even when love wanes. There are times in every marriage when the tide goes out on love, and if that is all you have, it's finished. But if you have commitment deep in your spirit, it will keep you in stormy times until the tide comes in again (which is an unchangeable law).
Motherhood is also a commitment of love and faithfulness. When your children are little and totally time-consuming, it seems as though you'll never have time to do anything for yourself again! Don't despair you will look back and wonder where this time went. It's important that in the daily grind that you look beyond your present circumstances to your ultimate goal. If all you see every day is diapers, crying babies, and sleepless nights, you can feel frustrated, but if you know the power of your vocation you will be inspired through the times of overwhelmingness.
Your influence as a mother is not just confined to your home. As you build into the lives of your children, little by little and day by day, preparing them for life, you are affecting the destiny of the nation. More than that, the Bible says that the power of your influence goes on into the third and fourth generations. The future of the nation is in the hands of its mothers!
But even more than that, you are molding lives for eternity. Your work is eternal work. It is never wasted. Never sacrifice this powerful commitment for something lesser. Don't give in to the humanistic lies that seduce you to leave your rewarding and eternal work of mothering for the fleeting glory of doing your own thing.
In this hour of history, we are facing the biggest sell-out we have ever known-the sell out to anti-family values.
Proverbs 23.23 says: "Buy the truth and sell it not." Truth must not be sold! The truth is that de facto relationships, fornication, adultery,
same-sex marriage, abortion, homosexuality, and now transgenderism are sins in the eyes of God and will consequently bring heartache and destruction. We must stand with God against these sins. But that is only half the truth. The glorious truth is that although God hates the sin, He loves the sinner and has provided a way of salvation for every man and woman. Sin deserves the punishment of death, but God has provided a way of salvation by giving His only Son, Jesus, to die in our stead and take our punishment.
There is a way out for every sinner. There is an answer to every problem. It is not in condoning the sin. It is not in legislating these abominations! No! It is standing with God in his judgment of them, and at the same time, offering His glorious salvation.
Commitment to God and His truth is our greatest commitment. Out of this commitment proceeds faithfulness in every area of life.
PRAYER:
"Dear Father, I thank You that You are a covenant-keeping God. You will never break Your covenant. Please help me to also be a covenant-keeping woman. Amen."
AFFIRMATION:
I am a covenant-keeper. I will be true to my word.
