One Day At A Time!

ONE DAY AT A TIME

One day at a time, with its failures and fears,
With its hurts and mistakes, with its weakness and tears,
With its portion of pain and its burden of care;
One day at a time we must meet and must bear.

One day at a time to be patient and strong;
To be calm under trial and sweet under wrong;
Then its toiling shall pass and its sorrow shall cease;
It shall darken and die, and the night shall bring peace.

One day at a time - but the day is so long,
And the heart is not brave, and the soul is not strong,
O Thou pitiful Christ, be Thou near all the way;
Give courage and patience and strength for the day.

Swift cometh His answer, so clear and so sweet;
"Yea, I will be with thee, thy troubles to meet;
I will not forget thee, nor fail thee, nor grieve;
I will not forsake thee; I never will leave."

Not yesterday's load we are called on to bear,
Nor the morrow's uncertain and shadowy care;
Why should we look forward or back with dismay?
Our needs, as our mercies, are but for the day.

One day at a time, and the day is His day;
He hath numbered its hours, though they haste or delay.
His grace is sufficient; we walk not alone;
As the day, so the strength that He giveth His own.

Be Proud of Your Calling

BE PROUD OF YOUR CALLING!

Dear mother in the home, beloved of the Lord,

Your power as a mother, it can’t be ignored,

You are the heart and the Queen of your home,

Making it a haven so your children won't roam.

As you nurture and teach your children each day,

Discipline, train and watch over their play,

May your heart fill with joy and overflow with love

That God gave you these 'gifts' from heaven above.

Each precious child is a ‘blessing’ from the Lord,

You will no longer have time to ever be bored!

You have the greatest career in all of the land

As you teach your children to heed God's command.

Lift up your head; be proud of your calling,

It’s work for eternity - totally enthralling!

Oh yes, I know you often feel tired and worn,

But claim God's promises, His truth He has sworn.

"The joy of the Lord is your strength," God has stated

Whatever He’s promised cannot be negated!

As you shine with His joy, you'll be a beacon to all

That embracing God’s children is His will and call.

Don't be intimidated by those who ignore God's way,

Who limit their children and leave them each day,

As you receive God's 'rewards' and at home with them stay

You’ll be a light to save others from going astray.

Your sweet, gentle spirit is precious in God's sight.

As you serve in your home with all of your might

You are revealing the spirit of Jesus the King

Who showed by example to serve in everything.

May God bless you and strengthen you each new morn,

May you know His faithfulness with every dawn,

May God's presence be with you in a mighty measure

As you train up your 'arrows' for God's purpose and pleasure.

The Shining Mother

THE SHINING MOTHER

Dear mother, you are blooming like a beautiful flower

As you embrace your motherhood and rely on God’s power,

You are walking in God’s perfect will and plans,

He has chosen you to tenderly care for His lambs.

You are obediently fulfilling God’s great vision

To bring forth the godly seed – it is God’s commission.

He wants this world to be filled with His glory and light,

A holy seed who will be the answer to this world’s plight.

May you raise sons and daughters who will be mighty for God

Who will turn many to Jesus while on this sod.

‘Arrows’ who are polished and ready for the bow

To be sent forth, in God’s time, to attack the foe.

May you experience God’s strength and His help each day,

May you live in divine health as you eat the healthy way,

May you be filled with great joy, which is your strength

And know His mighty anointing for each day’s length.

Oh I know that you often feel tired and worn

But God’s promises are true, He has sworn

He will always be faithful; He will not let you down,

You can trust Him completely; He won’t let you drown.

Don’t get down-hearted; throw self-pity out the door!

As you trust and obey, He’ll give grace more and more!

Keep pressing on, keep your eyes on the Lord,

Look beyond the day’s frustrations to the eternal reward!

The world is waiting to observe your radiant face,

To behold God’s glory upon you, and His grace,

There is no greater testimony for this world to see

Than a joyful mother with children on her knee.

At The Table

AT THE TABLE

Where can you communicate while you eat?

Where can you enjoy real fellowship sweet?

Where can you laugh with friends who are neat?

        At the table.

Where can you pour out your heart and soul?

Where can you explain what is taking its toll?

Where can you share your vision and goal?

        At the table.

Where can you dialogue and sift through ideas?

Verbalize thoughts and yet still be at ease?

Discover new subjects to debate if you please?

        At the table.

Where can your hearts be knitted as one?

Where can you yarn and old stories be spun?

Feel accepted so you don’t have to run?

        At the table.

Where can your children learn to sit still?

Acquire eating habits that won’t make them ill?

Be taught good manners of which some have nil?

        At the table.

Where to imbibe values and ethics for life?

Learn to eat correctly with fork and knife?

Observe how “to father” and be a good wife?

        At the table.

Where can you reveal God’s ways to your kin?

Teach them His Word will keep them from sin?

That to follow God’s laws is the way to win?

        At the table.

Where can you encourage your children each day?

And boost the confidence of these “jars of clay”?

Give counsel that will keep them from going astray?

        At the table.

Where can you make your house feel a “home”?

With a lovely warm ambience and happy tone?

From where your children will not want to roam?

        At the table.

Where can you show love to God’s special “flock”?

Feed those who come to your door and knock?

Even those who don’t know God can be their Rock?

        At the table.

Where does God love His presence to fill?

Where does He want His blessings to spill?

Where does He want restless hearts to be still?

        At the table.

Dear father and mother, look again at your table,

Family meals together will make your home stable!

Make it a priority – your God will enable!

        Sit at your table!

Come To The Table

“COME TO THE TABLE!”

From Psalm 128

“Come to the table, supper’s ready to eat.”

All the children come running to find their seat,

At the head of the table father takes his place

And with all gathered round he says the grace.

He’s planned to be home from his busy work,

From his place at the table he will not shirk,

He affirms his commitment to his family and wife

And his presence at the table diminishes strife.

Mother has taken time to prepare the meal,

Full of nutrition, not a pre-packaged deal,

She delights to cook for her growing brood,

She knows it’s a sacred task to prepare their food.

The table looks inviting – a clean tablecloth too,

The plates nicely set, perhaps a candle or two.

The children get involved and do their part

To make the table look creative and very smart.

What joy to be together at the end of the day,

To laugh, and communicate, and each have a say,

To share the day’s happenings with one another

And tell what they’ve learned to father and mother.

The plates are now empty, tummies full to the top!

Is it time to leave the table? No! Stop, stop!

We’ve fed only the body and the soul so far,

The best part’s to come and it’s not out of a jar.

It’s time for devotions; we must feed the spirit,

Of the blessing from this, there is no limit.

Father opens the Bible and to his family he reads

Sowing into their hearts God’s eternal seeds.

Now it’s time to pray, each one takes a turn,

They pray for  needs as God’s will they discern,

They give thanks for blessings with a grateful heart

And develop a spirit of gratitude right from the start.

God’s blessing is on this family we know

As around the table their “olive plants” grow

God’s smile is upon them as they follow His way

And establish this principle for now and alway.
