WRITE FOR ABOVE RUBIES

I am always open to fresh, heart-felt testimonies for Above Rubies on any subject relating to marriage, motherhood, the home, and family life. A couple of feature articles I would like to do in the new magazine are as follows:

LEARNING TO LOVE HOME

I have a couple of wonderful testimonies from mothers who found it difficult to be at home and how God gave them a love for their homes. I’d love to get one more testimony from someone who has a change of heart in this area.

GOD’S FAITHFULNESS AND PROVISION

I’d love to receive testimonies of how God has provided for your family as you have taken the step to be at home with your children.

MARRIAGE RESTORATION

I am always looking for testimonies of how God has restored marriage and ways God has shown you to enhance and strengthen your marriage.

BABIES IN YOUR FORTIES

I have just received a phone call from a lady who would love to hear testimonies of mothers who have had babies in their forties. She herself had her last baby at 43 and is still hoping for another baby. However, she said she would love to testimonies from other mothers who are having babies in their forties and their stories about it. So once again, if you’ve got a testimony about this, please share.

Also, let us know if you conceive in your forties and perhaps how you share your joy you’re your family and the world.

POINTS TO REMEMBER WHEN WRITING

  1. Don't make it too long - 1500 words are adequate, but shorter is even better.
  2. Only put one space between sentences, please. Very important.
  3. Send as a Word Document by email attachment.
  4. Please also add at the end of the article:

Your full name.

Your husband’s name

The names and ages of your children.

Your email address.

And I should add. When you write for Above Rubies you do it freely, as unto the Lord, to bless other wives and mothers. You will not be paid. Above Rubies is a love ministry. We do everything out of love and a passion to encourage, bless, and nurture mothers. I have been pouring out my life for forty years, writing every day, but not for money.

FAMILY NEWS

The best news in the family is baby news. Praise the Lord, we have some babies coming. Our grand-daughter, Rashida, is expecting her second baby in September. And Meadow, Rashida’s best friend and cousin since they were babies, is expecting her first baby in January. It’s going to be so exciting for them to have babies together.

And Serene is expecting a baby in February. She is due only one week after Meadow’s baby. This is Serene’s ninth biological baby, but No. 14 in their family with her five adopted children. Serene is also a grandmother of five and waiting for three more. Her oldest daughter, Selah, who has three children, is waiting to adopt three children from Liberia. These are children of Sam and Selah’s family members who have died of Ebola and other tragic events. We hope it won’t be too long before they come into our family.

Although Dylan and Jessie are not Campbells, we consider them part of our family. Jessie was an Above Rubies helper too and they are expecting their first baby in December. They will be part of the coming babies.

We are praying for more babies. We still have couples in the fam who are desperately waiting for God to bless them. We keep praying for Arden and Esther. Instead of coming home from their honeymoon in February 2016 with “a honeymoon conception,” they came home to find Arden had cancer. Praise the Lord, although we don’t yet have a clearance, he is looking so amazingly healthy and we are praising the Lord.

We have another wedding in September. Crusoe (Evangeline and Howard’s son) is marrying Stephanie Graham from Florida. Stephanie was also an Above Rubies helper a couple of years ago. She is the fourth Above Rubies helper to get married into the family!

ABOVE RUBIES HELPERS

I am so blessed to have girls come here to Tennessee to live with us for a period (about two months, sometimes longer) to help me in this great ministry of Above Rubies. We have been blessed for so many years now. We love having them and they certainly keep us young. I could not fulfil this ministry without them. I remember years ago when I wondered how to cope. And then I thought of how so many young women go on mission trips to serve the Lord. I thought, “Why don’t they come on a mission trip to Tennessee to help in this great ministry of encouraging and strengthening families across the word.” And they began to come.

Many have come not only once, but on two or three occasions. They make friends from all over the world. They are bridesmaids at each other’s weddings. They visit one another in different countries. It’s so beautiful see the friendships they make.

Most girls who come are between the ages of 17 and 24. I like the girls to be about 17 years before they come so they are ready to be away from home and are mature enough to work well. In our home, we work hard and play hard. We work consistently each day during the week (except weekends). But the girls also have time for fun and fellowship with all the young people around here of which there are many with all our grandchildren.

The need is always ongoing and I usually like to have at least two girls at a time. I am now needing new girls from the end of this month until the end of this year and on to next year.

If your daughter is interested during any of these times, please contact me. Either call me at 931 729 981 or email me at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. giving me details and asking any questions you may have. If you email, please leave your phone number too.

SIGN PETITIONS

I love to and make a stand for truth in whatever way I can, don’t you? I know that phone calls are the best. But if there is a petition, I’ll sign it. Ephesians 5:11 says: “And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather REPROVE them.”

THE MORAL OUTCRY

A friend of mine has just emailed me to tell me about a very important petition to end abortion. She is currently at a preparation meeting for the RISE UP gathering on October 9th, 2017 in the National Mall in DC where they are believing for hundreds of thousands to gather.

To sign the petition against abortion, go to: https://www.themoraloutcry.com/

This petition, which will be given to the Supreme Court, is to “wake up the nation and galvanize the national conscience to end the scourge of abortion in America. It will declare that as a people, we do not accept the compromise that leads to the unnecessary death of millions of innocent babies.”

HOMESCHOOLING IN CUBA

HSLDA has been working to support the Rigal Ramon family and to help overturn this unjust sentence. Ramón has expressed his firm commitment to continue the fight for freedom for his children and others to quietly educate their children at home in accordance with their convictions.

“I will continue to fight and not give in to their impositions and I will not take the children to school,” he told me. “This fight must be continued until they let me educate my children quietly in my house or let me leave the country. They want to impose their injustice and how to make an example out of me so that others do not follow my example of homeschooling. If I am not allowed to homeschool here in Cuba, I wish the authorities would let me leave the country to go somewhere that I may.”

HSLDA commends Ramón and Adya for their courage. We will continue to call on the Cuban government to allow its citizens to homeschool in keeping with its international human rights obligations. Not jailing Ramón surely qualifies as better treatment—but the regime should also acknowledge the Rigal family’s right to homeschool their children.

You can sign the petition at: - http://www.citizengo.org/en/ed/41526-cuban-pastor-arrested-homeschooling-sign-petition?m=5.

DON’T GO TO BED ANGRY

http://faithit.com/wife-forces-husband-sleep-couch-finds-dead-morning-life-short-bed-angry/?utm_source=Facebook&utm_medium=Walsh&utm_campaign=bed+angry

IS IT POSSIBLE?

I posted this on Facebook this morning. I know that many of you are not on Facebook so I thought I would share it with you here. I think it is a question that needs to be answered in this day of deception.

IS IT POSSIBLE?

I have a question for you. I asked this same question to the folks around our table this morning. Do you think it is possible to “glorify God in your body” which the Scripture tells us to, if we tamper with the way God created us?

We know that all God’s ways are perfect (Deuteronomy 32:4; Psalm 18:30; and Revelation 15:3). Therefore, the way He created our bodies is perfect. He created the female body for childbearing. He designed her body that during “the time of life,” which is the time of ovulation each month, that she has the opportunity to conceive a baby.

However, we live in a society where many women don’t want to have babies. They don’t want to live the way God designed their bodies so they use contraception, or even sterilization, to make sure God cannot bless them with life.

Sterilization tampers with the Creator’s design for our bodies. It changes the function. More accurately, it stops the function! It stops the ultimate plan of our Creator. Therefore, in doing this, is it possible to glorify God in our body? Let’s be honest now.

We need to read the Scriptures again: 1 Corinthians 6:19, 20 (ESV): “Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? YOU ARE NOT YOUR OWN, for you were bought with a price. So GLORIFY GOD IN YOUR BODY.”

And the Scripture we all know, but need reminded of daily: “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye PRESENT YOUR BODIES A LIVING SACRIFICE, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God” (Romans 12:1, 2).

We notice that this Scripture exhorts us to present our BODIES to the Lord, not just our spirits. How are we to offer them? “Acceptable” to God. This word means “what is agreeable and well pleasing to God.” And its repeated in verse 2. The perfect will of God is that which is agreeable and well pleasing to Him. It’s not what is agreeable to us and fits in with our lifestyle, but what is in accordance with His eternal plan and purpose.

We either live according to the humanistic plan of our modern society or according to God’s eternal plan that has never changed and never will change from the beginning of time.

IS GOD ABLE TO PROVIDE?

As expected, some folks have already commented on this article and can’t believe that God is able to provide for children. Isn’t it sad that Christians do not trust God. Isn’t that what it means to be a believer? To believe God? To trust Him? Of course, it’s difficult to trust if we don’t know the truth. If you are also wondering about this question, here is a good article for you to read. It takes you to the Scriptures instead of what man says.

This is important because we are either on the side of the supremacy of man’s reason or the supremacy of God’s infallible Word! Which side are we on?

Here is the article: http://tinyurl.com/CanGodProvideforBaby

WHAT DOES THE BIBLE MEAN TO YOU?

Great quotes by Charles Henry Mackintosh (1820 – 1896).

“We cannot listen for a moment to men, however profound in their reading and thinking, who dare to treat God’s book as though it were man’s book, and speak of those pages that were penned by the All wise, Almighty, and Eternal God, as though they were the production of a shallow and short-sighted mortal.”

“We believe that the Bible, as written in the original Hebrew and Greek languages, is the very word of the only wise and the only true God, with whom one day is as a thousand years and a thousand years as one day, who saw the end from the beginning, and not only the end, but every stage of the way. We therefore hold it to be nothing short of a positive blasphemy to assert that we have arrived at a stage of our career in which the Bible is not sufficient, or that we are compelled to travel outside of its covers to find ample guidance and instruction for t5he present moment, and for every moment of our earthly pilgrimage. The bible is a perfect chart in which every urgent need of the Christian mariner has been anticipated. Every rock, every sandbank, every shoal, every strand, every island, has been carefully noted down. All the need of the Church of God, its members, and its ministers, has been most fully provided for. Howe could it be otherwise if we admit the Bible to be the Word of God? Could the mind of God have devised, or His finger sketched an imperfect chart? Impossible. We must either deny the divinity or admit the sufficiency of The Book.”

“We should just as soon think of bringing out a flashlight to assist the sun’s meridian beams, as of calling in human tradition to aid divine revelation.”

SIX MILLION DIFFERENCE

The latest statistics from Pew Forum reveal that according to the current birth rates, between the years 2055 and 2060, the birth gap between Christians and Muslims is excepted to be six million (232 million births among Muslims vs. 226 million births among Christians). Read the full report. Very informative.

MODESTY – IS IT DEPARTING FROM GOD’S PEOPLE?

The following are a few links to check out about modesty. And while on this subject I have a few further thoughts.

We know that we reveal what we are like inside by our countenance. I believe we also show to the world what we really believe by what we LIKE on Facebook. It grieves my heart to see so many Christian girls and women posting pictures of themselves that show cleavage, very bare shoulders, and very short skirts etc. Although they may be the "in" fashion, even the church, they are not godly. They do not equate with the fact that when we are born again the HOLY Spirit indwells us. Nor does it have any resemblance of holiness "without which no man will see the Lord" (Hebrews 12:14).

Not only do we see these posts, but so many Christian LIKE them! I don't know what to think! Do they love cleavage? Do they love seeing other Christian women showing off their bodies? And by LIKING the post they do not help their fellow sister toward holiness and a closer walk with Jesus. Instead, they are saying, "Go for it. I love seeing you show off your body. Keep walking in the flesh."

Don’t you think we should think carefully before we LIKE! Because others see what you like and you reveal your standard.

Another thing that I can't understand. How is it that husbands do not mind their wives going out into public showing off their bodies and showing cleavage? Do they want every other man to gawk at their wife? Shouldn't a husband protect his wife? Doesn't he want to keep his wife to himself instead of her showing off her precious and private parts to the world?

DID THOMAS EDISON HAVE ADHD?

YOUR CHILDREN NEED MICROBES MORE THAN ANTIBIOTICS

https://www.thestar.com/life/2016/10/20/children-need-microbes-not-antibiotics-to-develop-immunity-scientists-say.html

IS MARRIAGE EXCLUSIVE OR OPEN?

A Facebook question popped up on my Facebook recently: “What's your take on guys and girls being friends? Even best friends? Can a girl be friends with a guy who isn't friends with her spouse and just be friends? Vice versa too? Can it be a purely platonic relationship?”

I was grieved in my spirit by the answers to this question. Most answered saying they thought it was healthy and beneficial to have friends of the opposite sex who were not their husband.

I beg your pardon! What has happened to God’s ideal of marriage? What has happened to the sacredness of marriage? What has happened to keep true to our solemn marriage vows?

The marriage officiant asks the groom: “Do you take [bride’s name] to be your wedded wife, to live together in marriage?  Do you promise to love her, comfort her, honor and keep her for better or worse, for richer or poorer, in sickness and health, and FORSAKING ALL OTHERS, BE FAITHFUL ONLY UNTO HER, as long as you both shall live?” The bide is asked the same question.

We know that “FORSAKING ALL OTHERS,” means to keep sexually pure in marriage. But I believe it means more than that. It means forsaking personal friendships (without including your husband) with the opposite sex. I don’t care what all these young marrieds say, it is not in God’s plan for marriage. Now that doesn’t mean you can’t have friendship with men. My husband and I have many friendships with couples and families.  Our lives have been given to hospitality through the years and we have enjoyed the rich blessing of many couples at our table as we fellowship together.

But I wouldn’t dream of going out to eat or going somewhere on my own with the husband of that couple. Why do I need to do that? Why do I need another guy apart from my husband? Isn’t he enough? My husband is my best friend. I have vowed to forsake all others and be faithful only unto him—sexually, emotionally, mentally, and because of my scared marriage vows.

And how does this affect our children, the next generation? As I write my thoughts, I stopped and talked to my Above Rubies helpers in the office, young girls in their twenties. I asked them how they would feel if their father or mother went out on their own with someone of the opposite sex. They were aghast. They felt it was wrong. They said it would make them feel very insecure. One girl mentioned that before she came to Above Rubies, she was coming home from work and saw her mother with another man in the car. Her heart fell! She arrived home to find that her mother was taking the builder home who was working on the house! But just seeing another man in the car devastated her.

The Bible tells us that love is jealous. What kind of love does a husband have for his wife if he is happy with her being with other guys? Or vice versa.

One comment from the Facebook stated:Psychology has proven that relationships thrive when both parties maintain friendships outside of the relationship.” I’m tired of listening to man-made wisdom. I’d rather adhere to God’s Word!

Song of Solomon 8:6: “Set me as a seal upon thine heart, as a seal upon thine arm: for love is strong as death: jealousy is cruel as the grave: the coals thereof are coals of fire, which hath a most vehement flame.” It’s not wrong for a husband or wife to be jealous.

Paul wrote to the Corinthians and said: “For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ. But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtlety, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ” (2 Corinthians 11:2, 3).

God states emphatically in Exodus 20:3-5: “Thou shalt have no other gods before me . . . Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am jealous God.”

Marriage is a mystery. It is a picture of God and His people Israel. It is a picture of Christ and the church. God’s first commandment is to love Him with all our hearts and souls and minds and strength. And to cleave to Him. God is jealous when we love other things more than Him. He wants us to have the same commitment to Him that has. Hosea 2:19, 20 says: “I will betroth thee unto me forever: yea, I will betroth thee unto me in righteousness, and in judgment, and in lovingkindness, and in mercies. I will even betroth thee unto me in faithfulness.”

The marriage relationship is an exclusive relationship. We do not share it with another.

Don’t you think it is time for God’s ways to be lifted up again in our society?

ROLE REVERSALS

Writing about parenthood, the great preacher and writer, J. R. Miller says: “Duties cannot be transferred.” I happen to agree with him, although many modern Christians would not.

Why do we think we know better than God? Why do we think that we have a better plan for our lives that the one who intricately, wonderfully, and marvelously created us?

God, in His perfect design, for “all His ways are perfect,” created a father and a mother to bring children into the world and to care for them in this world. He gave each one distinct roles to fulfil. Each brings their own strengths to the marriage and the parenting career. Many want to change the roles because of convenience. The wife wants to take on the role of provider which means she must give her children to someone else to watch. And yet no guardian, no matter how loving, can ever be in tune to the innermost needs of her child like the mother.

Sometimes a mother can earn more money than her husband so she goes to work while her husband stays home with the children. This is a role reversal and not planned by the God who created us.

But you say, “I know fathers who are great stay-at-home-fathers to their children.” That may be so, but they cannot be a mother no matter how they try. God has put within women a maternal anointing that men don’t have. Yes, men love their children. They have a strong instinct to protect their children. They want to provide for their children, but they cannot mother their children, especially babies and little ones.

Babies and toddlers need the comfort of their mother’s breasts. Breastfeeding is tied up with motherhood. Scientific studies reveal that the more frequently a mother breastfeeds her baby the more motherly and nurturing she becomes. Prolactin and Oxytocin release mothering hormones and a man does not have the abundance of these hormones that God gives to the breastfeeding mother.

God has also put within women a love for home, unless of course it is brainwashed out of her by our education system, the media, and the deception of our progressive society. A man is not cut out for the finer touches of the home and to making a home feel like a home. He was created to go out and to provide. To work hard for his family.

To get back to our original statement, I do concede that men and women can transfer their roles to a certain extent, but only at the expense of God’s ultimate blessing for the family. God intends fathers and mothers to fully embrace the way He created them and to reveal these strengths to their children so they pass them on from one generation to the next. Children who grow up in a family where the mother works and the husband stays home with the children will have a distorted understanding of God’s definitive plan. They will be confused and deceived. And what happens in the next generation? Will they think it normal to carry on this pattern until we have a society of men at home and women in the work force? God forbid.

Once again, it’s time to get things straight! We certainly live in a distorted and crooked generation. We must rise and shine like lights in this dark world.

WILL YOU HAVE CHILDREN READY FOR THE COMING OF THE LORD?

Are you preparing for the Coming Day? The day when our Lord Jesus Christ returns from Heaven? What will we present to Him on that day? Paul writes about what He is preparing for the Lord Jesus. He doesn’t mention any material things or aspirations of building a great organization. Instead he talks about his babes in Christ.

When writing to the new Thessalonian believers, he says: “For what is our hope or joy or crown of boasting before our Lord Jesus at his coming? Is it not you? For you are our glory and joy” (1` Thessalonians 2:19, 20 ESV).

What a challenge to us as mothers. We have such a powerful ministry right in our own home. It’s right on our doorstep. God has given us precious lives to lead to salvation and to nurture, train, and teach to be ardent disciples of the Lord. We have the responsibility to pray and pour into their lives so we can present our children to the Lord at His coming—sanctified and blameless in body, soul, and spirit (1 Thessalonians 5:23).

We have no greater ministry. The Lord Jesus will not be interested in our presenting our career to Him. Or our material possessions. Or the great name we made for ourselves. He will only look for cleansed, purified, and holy sons and daughters. This will not happen without our intercession, dedication, sacrifice, and pouring out our lives (1 Thessalonians 2:7-12).

I noticed Paul had the same heart for his babes in Christ at Philippi.  He called them his joy and crown too. In Philippians 4:1 he says: “Dearly beloved and longed for, my joy and crown, so stand fast in the Lord, my dearly beloved.” In verses 7 and 8 he says: “I have you I my heart . . . how greatly I long after you all in the bowels of Jesus Christ.”

This was his life. To pray for and exhort and encourage these young believers so they would be “pure and blameless for the day of Christ” (1:10 ESV). We should have this same passion for our children. More than any other aspiration for our children we should long for them to live lives that are “pure and blameless” in this evil society.

It was the same kind of society in Philippi.  Paul exhorted them to “be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world, holding fast to the word of life, so that in the day of Christ I may be proud that I did not run in vain or labor in vain” (2:15,16 ESV).

To keep our children straight and not veering into the humanistic lifestyle that is so prevalent today, and even in the church, we must constantly fill our children with God’s Word. It is the only antidote against deception. We must do it daily. Morning and evening. Without fail.

We must be strong to speak out against evil. We love people, but we don’t love and tolerate sin. If we don’t speak up against what is evil, our children will not know God’s standard and can easily fall into the groove of society. There are too many Christian young people who accept homosexuality! How can that be? Do they no know God’s Word? Do their parents not speak up?

We are not raising children to be like the world, but children who walk pure and holy lives. Children who will shine their light in the darkness of this world. Children who will be our “joy and crown” at the coming of the Lord.

We’ve got to become passionate parents for the Kingdom of God. May we not run in vain or labor in vain! Amen

NEW ZEALAND AND AUSTRALIA

Colin and I have just returned from Down Under where we spoke at Above Rubies retreats and were also able to catch up with family we haven’t seen for years. It was a very precious time.

Four weeks before we left for New Zealand, Colin fell and broke his hip and pelvis. We wondered whether he would be able to come. But we prayed for a miraculous recovery and I fed him up on bone broth every day, simmering the bones for over 48 hours each lot. He had two flasks of this every day. It did wonders and when we left for New Zealand he decided to leave his crutches behind and went without them. He limped along, but eventually his other leg gave out because he was using it as a crutch! However, he is getting better all the time.

ColinFriesHere is a picture of Colin eating national Down Under fast food—fish and chips. When cooked, they are wrapped in newspaper or white paper. You open a hole in the top and take the chips our one by one. It’s especially nice in the winter when your fish and chips keep you warm as you cuddle them!

Because this year is our 40th anniversary of publishing Above Rubies, we had a 40th Anniversary in New Zealand and in Australia—Ruby anniversaries for Above Rubies! They were great times of remembering the faithfulness of God for these last 40 years.

LoisMeThis picture is of Lois Jordan who did the layout for Above Rubies when we started the magazine 40 years ago in Palmerston North, New Zealand. It was all “cut and paste” in those days. We didn’t have computers for the job.

HeatherMeThis picture is of Heather Jones who currently directs the work of Above Rubies in New Zealand. Her sister, Val, directs Above Rubies in Australia.

VALMEWhen we got to Australia we had another celebration. This is a picture of Val Stares who has been working with me in the ministry from the very first day I got the vision! She and her family left New Zealand and came with us to Australia in January 1982 when we moved to that country. And when we moved to USA ten years later (August 1991), she stayed on to direct the work in Australia. I honor her faithfulness for working with me in Above Rubies for 40 years! Where do you find that kind of faithfulness? I know she has a great reward awaiting in the heavenly realm!

A PICTURE OF THE FAMILY MEAL TABLE

I have requested this before, but need more pictures. I would love a picture of a family eating their meal around the family meal table together. It is difficult to get a good shot of this. Someone needs to take it from a high angle to get everyone in. If there is someone who could get some good shots of a family eating and sharing together, I would be so grateful.

TESTIMONIES NEEDED

I have received many requests for a King James Version of this wonderful daily devotional. I am preparing it now for you. I am also including some testimonies of families or individuals who have been impacted by this devotional over the years. If you have a testimony, please send it to me at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

If you don’t know what I am talking about, THE DAILY LIGHT is a devotional for every morning and every evening of the year. It is only Scripture. Nothing else. Scriptures put together on a certain theme for each morning and evening. It is such a help with Family Devotions, especially for those who have not grown up doing this and don’t feel confident about it. Especially husbands who don’t want to do it unless they feel confident and yet often don’t know where to start reading the Bible with their children. With this book, all you need to do is go to the date—and it’s all there for you. Scriptures on a certain theme waiting to read. It’s only a small reading so it doesn’t take too long. But you can make it even more exciting by asking questions as you read it to the children.

THE DAILY LIGHT we currently sell through Above Rubies is the New King James Version.  f you would like to get a copy of the NKJV in the meantime, here is the link:

A TESTIMONY FROM SUSAN GROVE

"In December our family hosted a 12 year old boy from an orphanage in southern Ukraine. He spoke no English and was very frightened when he got off the plane in Seattle. However, in a few days he played alongside my nine-year-old and 12-year-old boys. We taught Rusik how to ski and it was such a joy to see him light up when he did so well up on the mountain.

However, it was more special to introduce him to Christianity through a Bible in his language. My husband also spent time each night praying with him as he had never known his father.

Our children had tons of laughter as they played simple games with Rusik. It was a super way to introduce our children to a different culture and to Share God’s love to a orphan. Our family intends to welcome Rusik and his 17-year-old sister for four to five weeks this summer. We look forward to what God has in store for us this summer with Rusik and Yuyla!"

MAKE AMERCIA GREAT AGAIN

This is the slogan of our new president, Donald Trump. We all want this to happen, but one man can’t make it happen. Although we have a president who wants to make things happen, the greatest influence upon a nation, is not the president, but the FAMILIES OF THE NATION! It all comes back to families. It started with families and God intends it to continue with families.

God ordained families for a purpose. Everything of God is for a purpose. God wants His families to take dominion for Him, to establish His order in the land, and to reveal His plan and purposes. To do this we must be God-seeking families, God-passionate families, and praying families. This doesn’t mean going to church once each Sunday. It’s a lifestyle.

Is this the lifestyle of your home? Do you make time every morning and evening to gather your family together and impart God’s Word to them? God’s Word is our only antidote to the landslide of delusion and deception in this nation in which our children are being raised. Our colleges are increasingly becoming recruiting centers for the leftist agenda of liberal humanism and the gay lifestyle. Unless our children are entrenched in the truths and values of God’s Word they will be easy prey for the enemy of our souls.

We’ve got to build strong families—strong truth seekers, strong Word lovers, strong value keepers, strong to stand against evil and deception, and strong in prayer. The only way we and our children become strong in prayer is by praying! Do you pray with your children every morning and evening?

Leviticus 26:7, 8 tells us about warfare: “And ye shall chase your enemies, and they shall fall before you by the sword. And five of you shall chase an hundred, and a hundred of you shall put ten thousand to flight: and your enemies will fall before you by the sword.”

A family with only three children makes five! And yet five can put 100 enemies to flight! Imagine 20 families with three children each praying morning and evening together. This passage says they can put ten thousand enemies to flight. What about those who have more children. Some families have six, seven and up to ten children! That’s a prayer meeting! As a praying family, you can change this nation. You can impact the world.

If only every God-fearing family would begin to pray together every day for the needs of this nation and the needs of the world, we would see mighty things happen. We all know 2 Chronicles 7:14 and yet we do nothing about it. Let’s read it again: “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”

Do you confess the name of the Lord? Do you as a family confess the name of the Lord? Then the first thing we must do is seek God’s face and pray! Yes, pray! Not talk about praying, but pray. Pray as a family. It’s powerful. There’s nothing more powerful you can do as a family.

But let me tell you a secret! Satan doesn’t want you to pray. He will do everything to stop you praying as a family. He won’t use bad things to tempt you as he knows you wouldn’t be tempted. He’ll use good things to stop you. That’s how he fooled Eve in the beginning. He tempted her with that which was “good . . . beautiful to the eyes . . . and stimulating to the intellect” (Fenton).

He’ll get you running your children around the in car to sports and lessons and loads of “good” things, things you think are so important although they won’t make much difference to their future lives! But all these “good” things will stop you from praying. You won’t even be home to prepare the meal where you can all sit down together as a family to read God’s Word and PRAY! Satan wins another victory! He’s laughing up his sleeve! Because we don’t really believe 2 Chronicles 76:14 after all. We believe it, but we don’t do it.

Dearest families, we’ve got to radicalize our lives. We’ve got to change our lives where we revolve everything in our lives around our daily times of praying and reading the Word. Not just fitting them in if it happens. We make this happen first and everything else revolves around it! It’s the only way it will happen. But you can make it happen!

And remember this statement which God gave to me: “Everything from God is good, but not everything that looks good is from God.” Choose God’s best, not just that which looks good!

Unless we change our lifestyles, nothing will change in this nation. Remember, it’s not the president who can change this nation, it’s the families. GOD-FEARING FAMILIES. WORD-LOVING FAMILIES. PRAYING FAMILIES. RADICAL FOR GOD FAMILIES.

SATAN HATES THE FAMILY ALTAR

Norman Williams writes:

“God didn’t make the course and destiny of nations and of individuals dependent on the decisions of Congresses and Parliaments, nor did He lay this power in the hands of rulers and kings; but God placed it in the praying family! This is why the devil cannot ruin nations of men until he has destroyed the homes of prayer! That is why Satan hates the family altar.”

HEATHEN OR CHRISTIAN?

“The simple fact that parents and offspring meet together every morning and evening for the Word of God and prayer is a great fact in household annals. It is the inscribing of God’s name over the lintel of the door. It is the setting up of God’s altar. The dwelling is marked as a house of prayer. Religion is thus made a substantive and prominent part of the domestic plan. The day is opened and closed in the name of the Lord. From the very dawn of reason, each little one grows up with a feeling that God must be honored in everything, that no business of life can proceed without Him and that the day’s work or study would be unsheltered, disorderly, and in a manner profane but for this consecration. When such a child comes in later years to mingle with families where there is no worship there is an unavoidable shudder, as if among heathen or infidel companions.”
~ James W. Alexander (1804-1859)

LinenBibleI LOVE LINEN

Colin and I were so very blessed this last Christmas to receive three amazing Christmas presents. Charlie and Pearl paid painters to come in and repaint our big downstairs social room. It’s actually our Above Rubies packaging room, but we use it for everything. Apart from using it for Above Rubies, we have church here on Sundays and all our huge family gatherings. Of course, it gets so much wear and tear and was ready for another paint. That was a blessing.

Serene and Sam redid all our kitchen counters which were in a bad state. Sam and his brother made them out of concrete, but the finished product looks like marble. And Sam also repainted all our kitchen cabinets. Another amazing blessing.

And then we received another surprise. I have dreamed about linen sheets for years and tried to save for years to purchase some. Unexpectedly, we received a package at Christmas time from the parents of one of our Above Rubies helpers. When I opened it up, I simply couldn’t believe my eyes. Linen sheets! My dream come true.

Colin and I adore them. We just love sleeping in them. Apart from them feeling so wonderful, they are so healthy. Linen is an extraordinary fabric that has been scientifically determined to possess healing properties. Linen has a signature frequency of 5,000. In comparison, the signature frequency of a healthy human is 100. Synthetic fabrics such as polyester (at 15) drain the body of energy with their low frequencies. Because the frequency of linen is so high, it supercharges the body with energy to heal and maintain health.

SCIENTIFIC DETAILS OF THE LINEN FREQUENCY STORY

In 2003, a study was done by a Jewish doctor, Heidi Yellen, on the frequencies of fabric. According to this study, the human body has a signature frequency of 100, and organic cotton is the same – 100. The study showed that if the number is lower than 100, it puts a strain on the body. A diseased, nearly dead person has a frequency of about 15, and that is where polyester, rayon, and silk register. Nonorganic cotton registers a signature frequency of about 70. However, if the fabric has a higher frequency, it gives energy to the body.  This is where linen comes in as a super-fabric.  Its frequency is 5,000. Wool is also 5,000, but when mixed together with linen, the frequencies cancel each other out and fall to zero. Even wearing a wool sweater on top of a linen outfit in a study collapsed the electrical field. The reason for this could be that the energy field of wool flows from left to right, while that of linen flows in the opposite direction, from right to left.

TAKE A STAND * BE A VOICE!

Like me, do you love to stand up for life, truth, and justice?

Proverbs 31:8, 9 says: “Open thy mouth for the dumb in the cause of all such as are appointed to destruction. Open thy mouth, judge righteously, and plead the cause of the poor and needy.”

Psalm 94:16: “Who will rise up for me against the evildoers? Or who will stand up for me against the workers of iniquity?”

Ephesians 5;11: “Have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.”

The following are three opportunities to be a voice by signing the following petitions:

STAND FOR LIFE

Tragically, over 4,000 babies are aborted every day in our nation. That's over 1.6 million every year! The Supreme Court admits in Roe that once Congress establishes the personhood of unborn children, they must be protected by the 14th Amendment to the Constitution which explicitly says: "nor shall any state deprive any person of life, liberty or property." Therefore, the passing of this LIFE AT CONCEPTION ACT can end abortion in America!

To sign, go to: http://nationalprolifealliance.com/lacAM_petition.aspx?pid=ls01a&npla=EP17

STAND FOR JUSTICE

Do you remember the fearless reporting of David Daleiden and Sandra Merritt who helped expose Planned Parenthood selling baby parts? Now, California Attorney General, Zavier Becerra has filed felony charges against them which could put them in prison for years. All for standing up for life and justice. Please pray for them and please sign the petition in their defense.

STAND AGAINST MEN BEING ALLOWED TO USE SAME BATHROOMS AS LITTLE GIRLS

April last year Target Corporation announced its stores would begin allowing men free access to the same restrooms and changing rooms as little girls. American Family Association immediately launched a boycott Target pledge which has garnered nearly 1.4 million signatures.

However, they need to reach 1.5 million signers by the end of April. Add your name by going to:

PRAYER BACELETS

Did you read the article about making prayer bracelets on page 14 and 15 of the new issue? I was most impressed at the Teach Them Diligently Home School Conference how a number of mothers came up to me to show me their prayer bracelets. They already had some changed over to their other arm to show they had prayed for those children already for the day. It’s a great idea.

NOW I SIT ME DOWN IN SCHOOL

A 15-year old schoolboy in Minnesota wrote this prayer:

For this great nation under God
Finds mention of Him very odd.

If scripture now the class recites,
It violates the Bill of Rights.

And anytime my head I bow
Becomes a Federal matter now.

Our hair can be purple, orange, or green,
That's no offense; it's a freedom scene.

The law is specific, the law is precise.
Prayers spoken aloud are a serious vice.

For praying in a public hall
Might offend someone with no faith at all.

In silence alone we must meditate,
God's name is prohibited by the State.

We're allowed to cuss and dress like freaks,
And pierce our noses, tongues, and cheeks.

They may outlaw guns, but FIRST the Bible,
To quote the Good Book makes me liable.

We can elect a pregnant Senior Queen,
And the “unwed daddy,” our Senior King.

It's “inappropriate” to teach right from wrong,
We're taught that such “judgments” do not belong.

We can get our condoms and birth controls,
Study witchcraft, vampires, and totem poles.

But the Ten Commandments are not allowed,
No word of God must reach this crowd.

It's scary here I must confess,
When chaos reigns, the school's a mess.

So, Lord, this silent plea I make,
Should I be shot, my soul please take!

Amen.

NEW ABOVE RUBIES DIRECTOR IN SOUTH AFRICA

Chamonix Boland has now taken over from Linnie Lues. She writes:

“Dear Above Rubies readers and precious mothers,

It is a true honor and great excitement that I sit down to write to you.

As a teenage girl and young adult, I would wait with great expectation and anticipation for the next issue of Above Rubies due in the mail any day. The first thing I would do was to read Linnie’s newsletter. How I admired her family. And then I would read each story with such longing for my motherhood journey to begin.

I have always wanted to be a mommy. From a very young age that is all I can remember ever wanting--to have sweet babies. It is such a joy, such a blessing, and oh what a privilege. But it is also a great responsibility and is challenging at times. That’s why I treasure Above Rubies even more than ever. Each encouraging word and article breathes new life, hope, and enthusiasm into my motherhood journey.

I feel honored to be a part of this ministry to the mothers and families in South Africa and surrounds.

I am a homeschooled girl. My dear mother is Martie du Plessis from “Dymanis.” For those of you that don’t know, Dynamis is a ministry that empowers families and helps parents that would like to home educate their children. My mom and I began this journey many years ago and we traveled through South Africa on a regular basis. I continued my home schooling, learning, serving, and growing while my mom assisted families.  God is always at work, connecting people for His purposes! This is how we met Linnie Lues and her family.

I am a passionate lover of horses and am blessed with 16 beautiful four-legged babies and married to a cattle farmer, my strong and steady Justin Boland. We live in the beautiful highland mountains bordering Lesotho in the Eastern Free State, just outside Clarens.

I married young at 21 in 2008 and God blessed us with babies soon after--Nicholas-Christion (7), Evangeline-Faythe (6), Caleb-Eathen (4), Maia-Hope (2) and Benjamin-Fergus (1). And hoping for more!  I have had beautiful births, the first three in hospital and the last two were home water births with my dear midwife Sue King, although our Benjamin was unplanned unassisted.

I am passionate about Child Birth, Labour, and Breast Feeding and passionate about assisting mothers emotionally with their birth and nursing journey, either as a doulah or with Lamaze breathing, focus, and relaxation techniques. I follow Le Leche breast feeding guidelines when assisting lactating mothers. This is a passion I choose to share with other mommies because it is such a blessing to birth powerfully and nurse well. It marks the first on your journey as mother, to submit your body as a sacrifice to God through carrying, birthing, and nursing His children with joy and gladness!

We also assist on Justin’s family Guest farm, “Sunnyside Guest Farm,” with everyday mundane running of the business tasks, maintenance, and reservations as well as help look after Justin’s Granny (86) who runs the guest farm and lives on the property.

We home school our little blessings, although they mostly just live life with us, sharing in our many daily tasks pertaining to farm and guest farm life, working alongside us, and serving their family and others in that way. Now they too will share in this marvelous Above Rubies journey that can encourage and bless others and impact future generations of mothers and fathers!

We look forward to this special journey with you, and as Linnie says, become partners with you in Above Rubies SA as we join hands to keep Above Rubies coming to South Africa!

NewPOM3D wTHE POWER OF MOTHERHOOD

What the Bible says About Mothers

After 18 months of adding and editing this classic manual for motherhood, it is now available again! I know so many of you have been waiting for it. Just a minute . . . forgive me, you may still have to wait just "a tiny bit more." It's now in the process of being printed but we had a little trouble with the cover, but it's all happening!

Can you believe it? I first wrote this book 21 years ago! It was ready for an upgrade. I have poured my heart into this book. It is my legacy to you and the mothers of the world. Society portrays motherhood the opposite of God's plan, but this manual goes into God's Word to see what He wants to tell you. He didn't create you a mother and leave you stranded. He reveals His will to you. He shows you His plan. He makes known exactly how He wants you to mother. You 'll find it all in this manual.

I believe that every mother in the world should have this book. It is a Mother's Bible. Even if you have the old one, you'll want to purchase the new one. You'll want to purchase one for all the young mothers you know.

And it is perfect for Ladies' Bible Study Groups. There are questions at the end of every chapter for you to study and discuss together. There's nothing as heart-warming and encouraging as mothers getting together for fellowship and discussing the issues of motherhood. You may like to begin a Mother's Bible Study in your home once a week, or once a month (if you can only manage that). Gather ladies together to study, share, and pour your heart out to one another. And then have a pot luck lunch together.

If you would like to purchase 10 copies or more of THE POWER OF MOTHERHOOD, I will give you 40 percent discount. Call us at 1 877 729 9861 for this special deal.

NannyNursuryRhymes3Dcover wNANNY'S NURSERY RHYMES for the New Millennium

You will love this bright, happy, fun-illustrated nursery rhyme book for your children and grandchildren. It has a hard cover for durability for your children.

Did you know that nursery rhymes are not only fun, but helpful for your children's brains? They help them with memorization and language development. I raised our children on nursery rhymes (although I thought the traditional ones were rather ridiculous). That's why I wrote (along with my daughters) a new nursery rhyme book that is positive and helpful to the formation of their character.

Would you like your children to get College Degrees without going to College?

On pages 10 and 11 of the new Above Rubies # 93, Kathy Cooksey shares her testimony. She also shares how she found the secret of her children getting their college degrees without going to college. Her oldest son got his first accredited college degree from home at only 16 years.

You'll find all the answers in Kathy Cooksey's book:

HisBA 3D smHis B.A. was Only $8K

Quick, Fun College for Ages 12 to 99 Years

Using humor, interesting stories, and an off-the-wall writing style, Kathy describes her own son's journey of getting an accredited bachelor's degree from home at the tender age of 16. She explains how this method works for adult students, transfers, homeschoolers, or anyone. Older students sometimes finish an entire degree with this method in only one year.

MothersCalendar31 DAY PRAYER CALENDAR

A MOTHER'S DAILY HELP IN BLESSING HER CHILDREN

By Beverly Kirk

This is a desk, stand up, flip calendar to have on your table or sideboard. For 31 days, it gives a prayer for your children, featuring different character traits, and includes five or six Scriptures. For Example:

Day 1

Lord, may my children love You and Your Word (with six appropriate Scriptures).

Day 13

Lord, may my children have pure lips (with six appropriate Scriptures).

Day 28

Lord, may my children have discernment (with eight appropriate Scriptures).

It's a wonderful way to focus on the prayer and character trait for your children and choose one of the Scriptures for a memory verse. You will want to continue to use it month by month until you have all memorized all the Scriptures.

Oh yes, it also has a hymn (with the music) on the other side of the desk calendar which you can sing to.

I highly recommend it. Nancy

If you stand for the Christian principles upon which this nation was founded and if you love to hear the beautiful carols and Christian hymns during the Christmas period, here’s your opportunity to take a stand. You can call or email the company who are banning Christmas carols from their mall in Florida this Christmas. I’m not sure about you, but I think it is wonderful to have Christmas carols play in the public arena during this time of the year. It is so uplifting.

ORPHAN HOSTING * YOU CAN HOST ORPHANS FROM POLAND UKRAINE THIS WINTER, BUT YOU NEED TO SIGN UP NOW!

Sue McMahon writes:

Have you ever longed to go on a mission trip but decided you weren’t able for various reasons (such as having young children at home)? Well, I have some good news for you! Your family can be missionaries right from your very own home through orphan hosting!

Be Love! Orphan Outreach Missions (BLOOM) is an organization which helps orphans in the “pure religion” spirit of James 1:27 to look after orphans and widows in their distress . BLOOM does this by bringing orphaned children from Poland and Ukraine to live with Christian families here in the United States for approximately four to five weeks in the winter.  (We also have a six-week summer program.)

During this time, the children experience the unconditional love of a family and begin to understand the love our Lord Jesus has for them. In addition, the children quickly develop a basic understanding and use of the English language which helps develop in them a higher self-esteem and a feeling of accomplishment. They also witness healthy relationships between parents and their children, often for the first time in their lives. These basic skills provide tremendous emotional improvements that help the children as they grow up.

Our ultimate hope and mission, however, is that the children will come to know Jesus as their Lord and Savior through the families that host them.

Sadly, many orphans are forced to leave their orphanages at age sixteen to seventeen and live on their own. Since this is almost impossible, most of the girls turn to prostitution as a means of survival, while most of the boys turn to hard crime and end up in jail. Saddest of all is that a high percentage of these children will end up committing suicide.

However, orphan hosting changes all of that! Hosting an orphan brings hope into these children’s lives where there was no hope. And while BLOOM is only a hosting program, many of our families decide to adopt the children they hosted, providing them with a “forever family.”

To find out more about hosting an orphan, please go to our website where you can register to see photos of the children: https://www.bloomworldwide.org/hosting2.html

Please prayerfully consider if hosting an orphan is what God is calling you to do, and if you have any questions at all about hosting, please contact April Wareham at 817-929-3681.

October 31 is supposed to be the deadline, but there are still over 50 children who still need families! If this is on your heart, please sign up NOW.

Another way you can help is by donating a scholarship to help another family with the costs of hosting, which is quite expensive ($2,950). If you can help in this way, please use this link: https://co.clickandpledge.com/sp/d1/default.aspx?wid=113875  . (All donations and hosting costs are fully tax-deductible.) I would encourage you to look at the children’s photos first and choose which child you’d like to place a scholarship on, making a note of their ID# with your donation.

Thank you so much for whatever you can do for the least of these children of His!

YOU BELONG TO ROYALTY

This morning I read Revelation 1:5, 6: “Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood, and hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.”

Isn’t it amazing that when we are born gain into God’s family through the blood of Jesus Christ that He shed on the cross for us, that we are not only washed from our sins, but we become kings and priest. We enter a royal family for our Father is King of all kings and Lord of all lords. Often we forget who we are don’t we?

If God says we are kings, we should live like royalty. Bible reminds us in 1 Peter 29: “But ye are a chosen generation, a ROYAL priesthood, a holy nation . . .” The dictionary says that royalty means “people of royal blood or status, members of a royal family, that which pertains to a king or queen.”

Truly, we have been redeemed by the royal blood of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. We now belong to a royal kingdom and a royal priesthood.

Therefore, don’t you think we should act in a more royal way? We are queens and princesses of the King of kings. Let’s act accordingly. We should teach our daughters to live, talk, walk, speak, and act like princesses. We should teach our sons to act in a kingly manner. With nobility. Regality. The authority of the kingdom of God. We need to remind them that they belong to a royal kingdom.

We are raising princes and princesses. I see so many young people, even from Christian homes, who give a totally opposite picture.

Begin to see yourself as a member of the royal family. Train your children to behave in a royal manner. Become true ambassadors of the King of kings and Lord of lords.

THE UNSEEN GUEST

A mother shared with me recently how she understands biblical truths far better when she does something tangible. It helps the truth to become part of her life.

We talked about how God talked and fellowshipped with Adam and Eve at the end of each day, “the cool of the day” (Genesis 3:8). A little breeze is beginning to blow. It’s the time of the day when we relax after the day’s work. God had already established the principle of work with them (Genesis 2:15). It’s the time of the day when we eat and fellowship together.

God still wants to come to our families ate evening time, the time when daddy comes home from work and everyone gathers together to eat and communicate with one another. The time when God wants to specifically visit with us and be present at our table.

Sadly, God waits in vain in many homes. He comes at the “cool of the day,” but no one is home. There is not even the smell of food cooking? Where is everyone? May be still battling the traffic as they come home from another extracurricular activity.

And yet God is waiting at home to be present with us at our table!

My friend decided to purchase a special plate to put at the table as they set the table for the evening meal each day. She said that this will remind her that Christ is with them as they sit together.

Christ is the head of our home,

The unseen guest at every meal,

The silent listener to every conversation.

Do you remember these lines? They graced our wall when I was child growing up and impacted my life.

Welcome Jesus to your table.

May you and your family be blessed of the Lord. Keep walking in His footsteps, not only personally, but as a family. Don’t leave your children behind. Keep them up with you as you seek after God and His ways. Teach them His ways every day as you walk this life.

In His love,

NANCY CAMPBELL

Colin and I have just returned from the United Kingdom. I ministered at two Above Rubies Ladies’ Retreats, plus meetings in between. We praise the Lord for His blessing with us to speak the word of truth and for safety all the way.

The day before we left, we had the privilege of going up into the Highlands of Scotland for a walk. This is the third time I have been blessed to walk in the highlands of Scotland. This time we walked up to a Loch. It was still frozen, but just beginning to thaw.

Before leaving for UK, Evangeline gave me a beautiful shawl which she knitted for me from pure angora wool. She asked if I’d take picture of wearing it in the Highlands of Scotland, so here I am. We took it all the way up, just for Vange! It was cold, but I took off my hat and big coat to take the picture!

OUR HOME TO YOURS

I mentioned in the Editorial that our daughter-in-law, Monique was expecting a baby in October. Sadly, since writing, she miscarried this precious baby. Monique had been longing and waiting for this baby and had nearly given up hope. Now she is having to wait again. Pray God will bless her with conception.

We still have three lovely mothers waiting for their babies and so every day I see one or more of these lovely mothers. It’s so beautiful to watch their babies growing in their womb.

ARDEN AND ESTHER’S WEDDING

Since printing the magazine, we have enjoyed Arden and Esther’s wedding. Because they both come from a family of 13 children each (including adopted children--the Allisons adopted five and the Vanderlaans six), they had a big wedding party. Nine bridesmaids and nine groomsmen and six little flower girls. It was amazing to see Arden standing up with seven cousins and two brothers standing with him. Actually, they are all like brothers and see each other nearly every day.

Here are some wedding pictures for you:

JACK AND RASHIDA’S BABY SHOWER

RashidaRashida's growing baby.

Our first baby to be born this year is Jack and Rashida’s whose wedding picture is on the front cover. We are having the Baby Shower the 8th April, but it won’t be a normal Baby Shower, especially since Evangeline is putting it on! She emphatically stated that this Baby Shower is not only for mothers, but for the men as well, the reason being that Jack is so very involved in this coming baby and would be terrible to have it without him! He is going to be a doting father.

Evangeline is calling it the -
BURGER BABY EMPOWERING NIGHT - Jack and Rashida's blessing blast-off into World Dominion! Only Vange would think of such a name!

Evangeline is organizing a sit-down gourmet burger evening. The men will toast Jack with great stories and exhilarating words of encouragement to this new father. The women will spur Rashida on to the greatest new adventure of her life. It’s going to be a great night.

AGENDA FOR STATE SCHOOLS

In the Editorial I printed a few quotes about the underlying agenda of public schools. It is most important that parents are not hoodwinked. God gave the authority to parents to teach and make the decisions for their children’s lives. They are their guardians, not the state.

I will print a few more for you, although they are only the tip on the iceberg. As you read the following quotes and information, I pray you will no longer be silent. We must speak out against such diabolical evil. We must rescue our children from the jaws of the lion. Christian parents cannot hand their children over to the enemy. They must take responsibility for the teaching of their children.

THE HUMANISTIC AGENDA IS WINNING

"The battle for mankind’s future must be waged and won in the public school classroom. The classroom must and will become an arena of conflict between the old and the new ─ the rotting corpse of Christianity and the new faith of humanism.”
~ John Dunphy in The Humanist magazine, January-February 1983

“There is no God, and there is no soul. Hence, there are no needs for the proofs of traditional religion.”
~ John Dewey - Father of American Progressive Education

“You can’t make socialists out of individualists. Children who know how to think for themselves spoil the harmony of the collective society, which is coming, where everyone is interdependent.”
~ John Dewey, First honorary president of NEA (National Education Association).

The NEA (National Education Association) is the largest labor union in the United States and has been instrumental in implementing John Dewey’s humanist agenda in the public schools through the increasing federal control over the American educational system. The NEA has 3.2 million members and represents public school teachers, faculty and staff at colleges and universities, and retired educators. Robert Chanin, the NEA’s top lawyer, retired in 2009 and let the cat out of the bag in a fiery farewell speech at the NEA’s annual national convention, which was held in San Diego that year:

“Why are these conservative and right-wing bastards picking on NEA and its affiliates? I will tell you why: It is the price we pay for success. NEA and its affiliates have been singled out because they are the most effective unions in the United States. And they are the nation’s leading advocates for public education and the type of liberal, social, and economic agenda that these groups find unacceptable . . .

And that brings me to my final and most important point, which is why, at least in my opinion, NEA and its affiliates are such effective advocates. Despite what some among us would like to believe, it is not because of our creative ideas. It is not because of the merit of our positions. It is not because we care about children. And it is not because we have a vision of a great public school for every child. NEA and its affiliates are effective advocates because we have power. And we have power because there are more than 3.2 million people who are willing to pay us hundreds of millions of dollars in dues each year.”

The NEA has become the most powerful special interest group in the United States, using its power, and its money, to lobby for ever more federal education spending. Unfortunately, instead of using its influence to improve the quality of education in American schools, the NEA has pursued policies that have resulted in just the opposite.

“The battle for mankind’s future must be waged and won in the public school classroom by teachers who correctly perceive their role as proselytizers of a new faith.... The classroom must and will become an arena of conflict between the old and the new – the rotting corpse of Christianity, together with all its adjacent evils and misery, and the new faith of humanism.”
~ John Dunphy, 1983

ISLAM IN PLUBLIC SCHOOLS

Maury County, Tennessee (This county is the next county to where I live!)
Todd Starnes writes, September 10, 2015

“I am not pleased that my 12-year-old was taught the Islamic conversion prayer,” parent Brandee Porterfield told me.

Joy Ellis discovered the Islamic lessons after examining her daughter’s class work.

“I was very angry that my child, my Christian child, was made to profess that Allah was the only God,” she told me. According to the lessons, students were instructed to write the “Shahada” – “There is no God but Allah; Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah.” Students also learned the five pillars of Islam.

“That was crossing the line between teaching the culture and teaching them the Islamic faith,” Porterfield told me. “This is not teaching. This is indoctrination.”

Could you imagine the outcry from liberal activists if the students had been forced to write “Jesus is Lord’?

“It tells me they are trying to convert my children to being Muslim,” she said.

THE GAY AGENDA IS INVADING THE SCHOOL SYSTEM

President Barack Obama recently appointed GLSEN (Gay Lesbian Straight Educational Network) founder, Kevin Jennings to head the “Safe Schools” effort. America has fallen into the hands of the wicked!

Hundreds of homosexual teachers and school officials gathered in Chicago not long ago to attend the annual Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN) conference.

The keynote speaker at this event was Robert Chase, head of the National Education Association, the nation's most powerful teacher's union. Chase told his audience that the NEA supports homosexual teachers. He observed, "I am here today precisely out of concern for the children our members teach. The NEA does not have what the right wing has branded a quote 'radical pro-homosexual agenda.' Rather, we have a radical civil rights agenda ? A pro-human agenda."

Chase is engaging in Orwellian Newspeak, designed to shield parents from the truth: The NEA has an aggressive pro-homosexual agenda and has promoted the normalization of homosexuality for years.

The NEA (National Education Association) support for homosexual activism should be cause for great alarm to parents who are concerned about their children being taught deviant sexual practices in the public schools. Last March, GLSEN held a workshop at Tufts University where homosexual HIV instructors taught teenagers how to "fist" their sexual partners.

GLSEN's conference featured workshops designed to help activist teachers introduce pro-homosexual themes into kindergarten social studies curricula. Children who can barely read, will be shown photos of lesbian mothers and daughters in a book called "Celebrating Families."

Homosexual teachers are also encouraging a new group of sexually confused individuals known as "transgenders." These are boys and girls who are suffering from gender identity disorders. Instead of helping them recover from gender confusion, homosexual teachers consider transgendered teens the new persecuted sexual minority. GLSEN is urging transgender teens to begin lobbying for unisex bathrooms on their campuses.

GLSEN also encouraged homosexual teachers to threaten their schools with lawsuits if school officials refuse to allow GLSEN to start Gay-Straight Alliance (GSA) Clubs on campuses. Not only does GLSEN want a GSA on every campus, they want to violate the rights of parents to keep their children out of such clubs. In one workshop, homosexuals were told that GLSEN is looking for a legal case involving a teen who wants to attend a GSA, but is prevented by his parents from attending. GLSEN will then file a suit against the parents to prevent them from protecting their child from homosexual recruitment.

Homosexual teachers obviously believe that children with sexual identity disorders are "their" children--and that parents have no right to protest homosexual recruitment programs.

What occurred at the GLSEN conference should be a wake-up call to all parents who are concerned about the moral and physical well-being of their children on public school campuses. If GLSEN has its way, parental rights will be a thing of the past. Once free from parental oversight, radical homosexual teachers will indoctrinate a generation of children to embrace a deviant and dangerous sexual lifestyle.

During a celebration of National Ally Week, Tara Miller, a teacher at the Faith Ringgold School of Arts and Science in Hayward, Calif., passed out cards produced by the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network to her class of kindergartners. The cards asked signers to be "an ally" and to pledge to "not use anti-LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) language or slurs; intervene, when I feel I can, in situations where others are using anti-LGBT language or harassing other students and actively support safer school efforts."

The above are only drop in the bucket of information that is available. What are you doing about your children? What are you doing about standing against these evils? The future of our children, our grandchildren and future generations depend on our speaking out and protecting our own children.

A FATHER’S PERSPECTIVE, PAGES 4-5.

Weren’t you touched by this beautiful testimony from this father as he shared about their precious little boy, Torian? He was mainly motionless during his life of only 15 months, and yet brought such love, blessing, and joy to their family.

When Torian was first born I shared the challenges of his medical problems in one of our newsletters and I know many of you prayed for him. Ethan and Deb asked me if I would give you this message from them: “Thank you so much to all the mamas who took time with their families to pray for our family and our sweet little Torian. His life was a gift from God and we miss him dearly, but what a joy and comfort we have in the Lord Jesus Christ knowing we will see him again.”

MY GREATEST GIFT TO MY CHILDREN, PAGE 7.

Did you read this lovely testimony from Tish Kleindeinst? Tish has two sets of twins, and after a reversal, they are now excitedly expecting their sixth baby in July.

Tish writes a little update:

ONE FLESH MARRIAGEOneFlesh

I recently posted this on Facebook, but as many of you don’t do Facebook, here it is for you to read.

GOD DESIGNED MARRIAGE:

1. DIVINELY
The Creator of male and female divinely designed His perfect plan. It is God who joins the man and woman in marriage: “What therefore GOD hath joined together.”

2. PROPHETICALLY
God revealed His plan in the beginning for all future marriages: “Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.” Where were the father and mother? They were nowhere on the scene when God spoke these words. Adam and Eve had never seen a father and mother! God was prophetically revealing His plan and how it would work for all future mankind.

3. INTENTIONALLY AND FACTUALLY
God unmistakably states His plan: “They two (the man and his wife) shall be one flesh. Wherefore they are no more two, but one flesh.” It does not matter what mere man thinks, it is what God states! His Word is eternal. It doesn’t change from the beginning to the end.

4. EMPHATICALLY
There are no “if, buts, or maybes,” but “And God said.” Not man (the created), but God (the Designer and Creator) has the last say!

5. PHYSICALLY
The coming together of male and female to be “one flesh” in marriage is a perfect fit. The sexual organs of male and female are opposite, (the man’s external and the woman’s internal), but they fit perfectly by God’s design. Male and male or female and female are not a perfect fit. This lifestyle is outside the Creator’s design.

When Jesus answered the questions of the Pharisees He said: “Have yet not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female, and said, FOR THIS CAUSE. . .” It was FOR THIS CAUSE (because He created them male and female) that the man cleaves to his wife. Please notice the words “man and wife,” not two of the same sex.

6. GENERATIONALLY
The coming together as “one flesh” results in the potential procreation of children and children’s children. From the two come one, or many, each bearing genetic genes of both the father and mother. This is impossible in a homosexual relationship which is outside of God’s blessing. These relationships end in nothingness and future destruction. It is the male and female oneness that God blessed: “Male and female created he them. And God BLESSED them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth.” Children only come through the blessing of God.

7. DELIGHTFULLY
God must have been filled with joy and delight when He designed the “one flesh” marriage. Who but our amazing God could plan for the man and his wife to experience such ecstatic joy, fulfillment, and wonder together? Proverbs 5:18,19 speaks of the married couple ravishing and intoxicating one another with their love.

8. EMOTIONALLY AND MENTALLY
Human beings are not animals. We are created in the image and likeness of God. We are body, soul, and spirit. Because God created us with a heart, mind, and soul, the “one flesh” statement is more than physical. It is also a oneness of soul. I am not whole without my husband. He is not whole without me for “they are no more two, but one.” We complement one another and each one brings different strengths to the marriage to make it complete.

9. SPIRITUALLY
Our bodies are only the house of the real person, the spirit--the part of us which was made for fellowship with God. God’s highest purpose for us in marriage is to become one together in spirit--connected to one another by our spirits and God’s Holy Spirit. We are to be glued together as one.

10. PURPOSEFULLY
God brings the male and female together to accomplish His purposes. God’s primary purpose for male and female is to have children. As husband and wife, and together with their children, they are to be fruitful, fill the earth, and “subdue it: and have dominion.” Purposefully together they advance God’s kingdom in the earth, reveal His image and likeness, and bring more of His love, truth, justice, and peace to the earth.

11. UNDEFILEDLY
Marriage is called “holy matrimony” and the marriage bed is holy and sacred. At the beginning of the wedding vows, the minister says: “Into this ‘holy estate’ these two persons come now to be joined. Therefore; it is not to be entered into unadvisedly or lightly, but reverently and soberly.”

Marriage is God-mandated and to be enjoyed according to God’s pattern, but it is designed only for male and female. Hebrews 13:4 (ESV) states: “Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled, for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterous.” God created the sexual act to be totally fulfilling without the use of “toys,” alternative ways that are not according to God’s Word, or anything that violates the conscience.

12. UNENDINGLY
The traditional wedding vows state: "I take thee . . . to love and to cherish, till death do us part (or, as long as we both shall live), according to God's holy ordinance.”

Sadly, we don’t live in a perfect world and there are times when it is no longer safe to live in a marriage where one of the two continues in a despicable, ungodly, and unrepentant lifestyle. Jesus admitted when talking to the Pharisees that Moses allowed divorce because “of the hardness of your hearts,” but He continued, “From the beginning it was not so.” It was never God’s plan.

Jesus also forcefully stated: “What therefore God hath joined together, let no man put asunder (or separate).” Or, let no man or woman, no organization, no church, no Facebook, or anything at all separate a man and wife from each other. They are to be fused as one.

Read the following Scriptures referred to above: Genesis 1:26-28; 2:23, 24; Proverbs 5:18, 19; Matthew 5:27, 28; 19:4-9; Mark 10:2-9; 1 Corinthians 6:16,17; 7:1-5; 11:8, 9; Ephesians 5:31-33; and Hebrews 13:4.

MARRIAGE QUOTES TO INSPIRE YOUMarriageQuotes1

“Connubial happiness is a thing of too fine a texture to be handled roughly. It is a sensitive plant, which will not bear even the touch of unkindness; a delicate flower, which indifference will chill and suspicion blast.” ~ Thomas Sprat

“A happy marriage is the union of two good forgivers.” ~ Ruth Bell Graham

“When we first met we were two people who loved each other. Now we are one person—two lives inextricably entwined and held by love.”
~ Peter Gray

“A marriage where not only esteem, but passion is kept awake, is, I am convinced, the most perfect state of subliminary happiness: but it requires great care to keep this tender heart alive. ~ Frances Brooke

MarriageQuotes2You can never be happily marriage to another until you get a divorce from yourself. Successful marriage demands a certain death to self.
~ Jerry McCant

“There never has been a generation whose view of marriage is high enough.” ~ John Piper

“As God by creation made two of one, so again by marriage He made one of two.”
~ Thomas Adam

“Many marriages would be better if the husband and the wife clearly understood that they are on the same side.” ~ Zig Ziglar

“Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth.” ~ The Holy Bible (1 Corinthians 13:4-6).

MarriageQuotes3"My wife tells me that if I ever decide to leave, she is coming with me." ~ Jon BonJovi

“In marriage, each partner is to be an encourager rather than a critic, a forgiver rather than a collector of hurts, an enabler rather than a reformer.” ~ H. Norman Wright and Gary J. Oliver

“Love seems the swiftest but it is the slowest of all growths. No man or woman really knows what perfect love is until they have been married a quarter of a century.” ~ Mark Twain

“One of the great illusions of our time is that love is self-sustaining. It is not. Love must be fed and nurtured, constantly renewed. That demands ingenuity and consideration, but first and foremost, it demands time.” ~ David Mace

“Marriage isn't supposed to make you happy - and satisfied. It's your job to make your marriage happy - and satisfying. Same goes for sex. It isn't supposed to make you passionate and "hot". It's up to you to make it passionate and "hot" - and intimate.” ~ Diane Sollee

Do you think you married the wrong person? Zig Ziglar gives some good advice:

“I'll be the first to admit that it's possible that you did marry the wrong person. However, if you treat the wrong person like the right person, you could well end up having married the right person after all. On the other hand, if you marry the right person, and treat that person wrongly, you certainly will have ended up marrying the wrong person. I also know that it is far more important to be the right kind of person than it is to marry the right person. In short, whether you married the right or wrong person is primarily up to you.”

ADOPTION ON STERIODS

Older readers of Above Rubies (I mean those who have been receiving Above Rubies for some time (not that you’re old!) will know that Serene and Sam Allison adopted children from the war-torn country of Liberia. Their oldest daughter, Selah, is now married and they are expecting their third baby in July. You can see Selah in this family picture at Arden and Esther’s wedding. Lovely Selah is in the apricot dress, her husband Samuel is in the front with Eureka and little Sammy beside him. Selah is a most beautiful wife and mother.

IMG 2684

Samuel and Selah, who were both adopted from Liberia are now wanting to adopt themselves. They have family members in Liberia who are in desperate plight. Samuel’s sister died during the Ebola epidemic there, leaving two children (eight and six years). Selah’s cousin died in childbirth, leaving her little one who is now three years old. She was bleeding internally but when she got to the hospital they would not take her as she had no insurance and she died right at the hospital door.

Grace

Samuel land Selah want to bring these children (who are already family) into their family and give them a loving and stable home life. They feel it is their responsibility because they are family. Sadly, they cannot receive any concession even though these children are their family. Each one will cost $30,000.00 = #90,000.00! However, as funds come in they hope to go to Liberia and work on the adoption there which could reduce the costs.

Please pray that God will work miracles for them. Every day these children are getting older and the sooner they can receive them into their loving home the better. Although Selah is already expecting another baby, she is a very capable mother. Even before she was married we always used to say she could manage a huge homestead and a big family. She is not only a wonderful mother but a loving and wonderful sister to all her adopted siblings.

WHEN BABY WAKESBabyWakes

CHANGING THE NATION!

ChangingNationDear happy homemaker in both word and deed,
God’s purpose for you is to raise godly seed,
Obedient children who are righteous and pure,
With mother at home, they’ll be happy and secure.

Secure in God’s love and protected from the world,
Guarded from evil and grounded in His Word
By a mother who embraces her calling divine,
The mandate God gave from the beginning of time.

You’re now planted at home, you’ve found your “glory,"
Left your career behind--that was another story!
You’ve now been promoted to a much higher career!
You’re in God’s perfect will so you don’t have to fear.

You’re nurturing, nourishing, and building your nest,
Under your husband’s covering you’re totally blessed.
God has promised to provide, He is Jehovah Jireh,
He will always be faithful, He is not a liar.

You are an “arrow polisher," sharpening your arrows,
You’re not pecking on the ground like little sparrows,
But soaring like the eagle, your stature is high,
You’re changing the nation’s course as on God you rely!’

Dear mighty mother, stand up and be strong,
Don’t be fooled by the enemy and the worldly throng,
Don’t be deceived by the mindset of this society,
Embrace your motherhood, it’s your highest priority!

Don’t be conformed to the humanistic trend,
It only leads to heartache in the final end.
Be a non-conformist, stand against the tide,
You don’t have to be governed by this world’s pride.

Instead be transformed by God’s living Word,
He is restoring His truth, will you be stirred?
Will you be part of this end-time restoration,
To train godly children and change the nation?

God is preparing a people for Jesus’ second appearing,
He wants an army of arrows, trained and unfearing,
Straight arrows to go forth from the parents’ bow,
The deceptions of Satan to overthrow.

May you experience God’s anointing and His renewing
As you become part of this revival which is all God’s doing.
You will be part of heralding the coming of the King
As you build God’s army–and His praises will ring.

~ Nancy Campbell * Malachi 4:5-6

FROM WEAKNESS TO STRENGTHWhenInDoubt

How much to do you believe in the power of God’s Word? I read this morning in Psalm 19:7-11 that His Word restores the soul, makes wise the simple, rejoices the heart, enlightens the eyes, gives us warning, and “in keeping of them there is great reward.”

I believe God’s Word has the power to fill up weaknesses in our own lives and our children’s lives. If you have a weakness in your life, search the Scriptures for God’s victory in this area. Meditate on and memorize the appropriate Scriptures you find. Constantly confess these Scriptures out loud. As you do, you will find that the weakness will turn into strength in your life.

I also used this principle as I raised our children. When I saw an area of weakness in their lives, or an area where I knew God needed to work in their lives, I would search the Scriptures to find answers. I would then minister these Scriptures into their lives. I wrote them out in big letters and pinned them up in appropriate places. I encouraged them to memorize the Scriptures. We talked about them at Family Devotions. It is not our words, but God’s Word that changes their lives.

I would encourage you to do this also in the training of your children. Write the applicable Scriptures up in big print and pin them in appropriate places on your walls. Teach and explain the Scriptures you researched to you children. Talk about them at Family Devotions. Use them as memory verses. Repeat and recite them over and over again.

You will be amazed at how the Word brings change into their lives and molds them into the image of Jesus. It’s the greatest way to fill up their weaknesses.

YOU ARE A LIFE-GIVER TO THE WORLDLifeGiver

The Hebrew word for Eve is havvah and means “life-giver.” Eve was the prototype of all women to come. God created her, and all future women to be life-givers to the world. What a privilege we have.

The word, havvah comes from another root word, chayah which means “to make alive, to revive, to repair, to restore, to recover, to nourish, to preserve, and to be whole.”

What a great purpose we have as mothers. We are firstly life-givers through our womb, but we are also to be life-givers in every way. It is good to constantly remind ourselves that we are life-givers.

Here is a little acrostic to remind you of your great calling of life-giver:

L Life-giving to the world through the power of my womb.
I Inspiring my husband and children daily with life-giving words.
F Feeding my husband and children life-giving foods (never dead or devitalized).
E Embracing my life-giving role of birthing and nursing babies.

G Giving freely as I pour out my life for my family and others.
I Interceding for my children and the strengthening of families in the world.
V Valuing life in the same way God values life.
E Engraving God’s life-giving words into the hearts of my children.
R Reviving, repairing, restoring, reconciling, recovering, refreshing, renewing, and rescuing lives and relationships.

What a great vision.

Be encouraged dear wives and mothers. Truly you determine the destiny of the nation.

In His love,
NANCY CAMPBELL

ABOVE RUBIES NEWSLETTER #2, Nov 2015

Dear Above Rubies readers,

May blessings be poured down upon you from the Father above--upon you, your husband, and all your family. Remember, God is the author of family. He loves family. He delights to be part of your family life. Don’t take your family life for granted. Don’t let your family life become fragmented. The most powerful thing you can do is strengthen your marriage and home. Make it tight. Don’t allow your family life to become a roosting place where people bed down for the night, but a haven where you work together, play together, do creative things together, make wonderful memories together, and most of all pray and read God’s Word together.

You’ll be wondering why you haven’t received your new issue of Above Rubies. I am so sorry. I am desperate to get another one out to you, but I am still waiting for the finances to come in. It’s takes over about $60,000 to print and send out an issue across the world! As soon as I am nearing this amount, I will go to print again. Please pray with me for a great release of finance. Thousands of people receive Above Rubies and yet never give a cent. Pray that God will touch their hearts to give.

I make Above Rubies freely available to anyone and everyone. However, although I make it freely available it is not actually free. The only way we can keep printing is as people give. I pray that those who have a burden for the strengthening of marriage and family in the nation will give, so we can once again get this message out into the world.

In the meantime, here is a mini Above Rubies to inform and encourage you.

WHO OWNS YOUR TABLE?

I wonder what kind of table you have in your home? Is it round, square, or rectangular? Is it old or new? It doesn’t really matter what it looks like. The real question we have to ask ourselves is: who does our table belong to? Is it my table? Or is it the Lord’s table?

If God dwells in our home, it will be God’s table.

Did you know that God loves to have a table? In the Old Testament He says: “They shall enter into my sanctuary, and they shall come near to MY TABLE to minister unto me” (Ezekiel 44:16). Everything changes when you understand your table belongs to God. It changes how you conduct your meals. It changes what you do at your table. We understand that the table is not only a place to eat some food, but a place where we feed our children--body, soul, and spirit. We feed their bodies, but God is present to feed their souls and spirits.

We notice four wonderful things about our tables which belong to God.

1. God reminds us to “enter into my sanctuary.” We cannot taste the delights of God’s table unless we come to the table. Oh how many hours of delights families miss together because life’s programs stop them from sitting at the table together. So many of our activities happen around the evening meal time. They may be good, but they deprive us from the best.

We have to COME to the table. We have to ENTER into His sanctuary. We have to understand that our table is a sacred place because it is God’s table. When we understand it is God’s table, we won’t want to miss being at the table to meet with Him.

2. God reminds us to come NEAR to Him. God doesn’t want us to be far away from Him. He doesn’t want everything else in the world to captivate our hearts. At the table we come near to one another and near to God.

3. God reminds us (as we have mentioned) that our table is HIS TABLE.

4. God reminds us that the table is where we MINISTER UNTO HIM. God had His table in the Holy Place in the tabernacle. Every single day the twelve loaves of bread sat upon the table. Every week the priests came in and ate of the bread and fellowshipped with God and then placed new bread upon the table. The table was never without bread. It was called the “CONTINUAL shewbread” (Leviticus 24:5-8 and 2 Chronicles 2:4). Even when they traveled to a new place the continual bread could never leave the table (Numbers 4:7).

God always has bread on His table. It’s there every day for us. It never runs out. We never have to go hungry in our souls and spirits. And therefore at our table each day, we open God’s precious Word and read it. It ministers to us and to our children. It prepares them for life. It prepares them to face the world. We cannot do without it or we starve spiritually. And not only does God minister to us by filling us with His eternal bread, but we minister to Him as we pray, and praise Him for all that He is.

Don’t vacate God’s table. He waits at His table in your home to meet with you, to feed you, and to have fellowship with you.

CALLING FOR CREATIVE DESIGN ARTISTS

THE POWER OF MOTHERHOOD is a manual to encourage and strengthen mothers in their high calling from God. It is the classic book for all mothers. It goes into God’s Word to find out what He says to you about as a mother. We completely sold out of this book many months ago.

Many are eagerly awaiting and we have a file of names waiting for the new printing. However, before reprinting this time I am re-editing and am now nearly finished. In readiness to reprint I would like to also do a new front cover. If you would like to make a design for this cover, I’d love to see your creation.

The size of the cover is 8 1/2 x 11”. You may use art or a photography but it must be something that has the anointing of motherhood about it. The title which can be arranged as you desire is as follows:

THE POWER OF MOTHERHOOD

What the Bible Says About You as a Mother!

TRY DIFFERENT PRAYER BOXES

I have written to you before about making a Prayer Box to help your children pray more effectively. Did you know you don’t have to be limited to only one Prayer Box? You can make up more than one for different subjects. You can then alternate them each week. Here are some ideas for different Prayer Boxes you may like to have in your home.

OUR FAMILY PRAYER BOX

PRAYERBOXES 014

On your prayer cards, write the names of each member of your family, plus extended family.

OUR WORLD CHANGING PRAYER BOX

PRAYERBOXES 006

PRAYERBOXES 012

Write on your prayer cards the needs in our nation, international needs, missionaries you are praying for, and current needs that require prayer. Look up this link to get ideas to pray for the needs of the world: http://tinyurl.com/IdeasForPrayerCards

OUR CHURCH FELLOWSHIP PRAYER BOX

prayerbox

Going through my cupboards the other week I found this very box which we used for some time. Write cards of the different families in your church who need prayer and encouragement.

OUR PERSECUTED CHRISTIANS PRAYER BOX

prayerbox2

This is such a powerful and biblical Prayer Box to use. There are so many countries persecuting Christians that it is hard to keep up with all the needs of the persecuted church around the world. The persecution of Christians in the 10/40 Window has increased by 400 percent over the last 10 years. That’s why it’s great to have a box especially designated for the persecuted church.

Your box will be fat with cards, especially if you write in every one of the 60 countries who persecute Christians. Don’t forget North Korea which is the most persecuting country of Christians in the world.

And how can we not pray every day for what is happening in Iraq and Syria where they face beheadings, rapings, and cruelties beyond measure.?

Did you know that even this last week ISIS captured the Syrian town of Maheen and then launched an attack on the nearby town of Sadad, which is the home to nearly 15,000 Syriac Orthodox Christians. This four year old civil war has killed close to 250,000 people so far, and forced nearly half of Syria’s population (11 million people) to flee their homes. Can you imagine this many people without homes?

No wonder Hebrews 13: 3 tells us to pray for them as though we were in prison with them and to feel their suffering as though we were suffering their pain in our own body.

Here is a link to give you more information about the persecuted church:

http://www.worldwatchlist.us/world-watch-list-countries/

OUR 10/40 WINDOW PRAYER BOX

The 10/40 Window is the rectangular area of North Africa, the Middle East, and Asia approximately between 10 degrees north and 40 degrees north latitude. These countries include the majority of the world's Muslims, Hindus, and Buddhists--a high percentage of the least evangelized and unreached peoples with the Gospel.

These countries include: Afghanistan, Albania, Algeria, Azerbaijan

Bahrain, Bangladesh, Benin, Bhutan, Brunei, Burkina Faso
Cambodia, Chad, China, Hong KongChina, Macau
Djibouti, East Timor, Egypt, Eritrea, Ethiopia
Gambia, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, India, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Israel
Japan, Jordan, Kazakhstan, North Korea, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan
Laos, Lebanon, Libya

Malaysia, Maldives, Mali, Mauritania, Mongolia, Morocco, Myanmar (Burma)
Nepal, Niger, Nigeria, Oman, Pakistan, Qatar
Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Somalia, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Syria
Taiwan, Tajikistan, Thailand, Tunisia, Turkey, Turkmenistan
United Arab Emirates, Uzbekistan, Vietnam,

West Bank / Gaza, Western Sahara, Yemen

Wow! Do you know where all these countries are situated? What a great project to learn about each one gradually and add to your Prayer Box. It is such a great way for your children to learn about these countries and get a heart for missions at an early age. Not only a heart for missions, but a heart to pray for the lost and the unreached peoples of the world.

OUR COUNTRIES AND CAPITALS PRAYER BOX

We currently use this box along with OUR WORLD CHANGING PRAYER BOX. I write on cards the names of the capitals and countries of the most needy in the world. Not only is it a reminder to pray for them, but it is a great way for your children to get to know the capitals of the countries of the world.

OUR NEIGHBORHOOD PRAYER BOX

If you have a vision to reach out to your neighborhood, your community, and city, the best idea is to start with your Prayer Box. Put in the names of the families God puts upon your heart to pray for. As you pray for them, God will show you how He wants you to reach out to them. Maybe He will inspire you to invite them over for a meal to show them God’s love and what it’s like to live in a Christian home.

Get your children helping to make the Prayer Boxes you would like to use in your home--and also writing the cards.

USE PICTURES

Another good idea is to use pictures of people (missionaries, a certain person you are praying for to be saved or healed, the kind of people who live in a certain country and so on) and places (pictures or maps of the countries you are praying for), especially when you have young children. This helps them to pray more effectively.

COLOR CODING

A mother shared with me what she does with their PRAYER CARDS for the family. Because she has children of varying ages, she writes very simple prayer needs on colored cards and more intense or political needs on white cards. The older children know to take a white card out of the Prayer Box and the younger children a colored card.

BREAST MILK NEEDED

A message from Nicole Stol * This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and Meredith Brewer * This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

“Dear Above Rubies Ladies, I thank you for your care for mothering and nurturing as God’s highest calling for us as women! Would you please pray with me for breast milk and healing for this little sweetheart Tayla. Nicole Stol met Autumn (Tayla’s mom) and Tayla at Children’s Hospital. Autumn is a believer in Christ who lives in Bellingham, Washington. Please pray with me for her 11 month old daughter Tayla.

At five months, a tumor was found in her stomach. It was surgically removed and returned. They next tried chemo and it returned again even more aggressively. At this point the doctors have said that a surgery would most likely end her life. She goes to Children’s this Wednesday for more consultation.  She now has the ability to try natural treatments.

At the time of surgery Autumn’s milk supply was compromised and they did not allow her to work to get it back up, but switched little Tayla to formula. Will you please pray with me for complete healing and a supply of breast milk for Tayla? With her serious health condition she would benefit greatly from God’s perfect food - breast milk. Please also pass this info along to others who are nursing. Maybe you have a friend who has a freezer full of breast milk that will go to waste, or even a cup--none will be wasted!  We do have a volunteer to transport milk from Seattle to Bellingham - let us see what the Lord will provide!

Or make contact for sending breastmilk.”

HAVE YOU PURCHASED THE NURSERY RHYME BOOK YET?

NANNY’S NURSERY RHYMES

Have you bought your nursery rhyme book for your children or grandchildren yet? You will love this brightly-colored, delightfully-illustrated NANNY'S NURSERY RHYMES. They are easy to learn because of the rhythm and rhyme, and also the repetition of the words. Little babies are drawn to listen to rhythm--the first sound they hear is the beating rhythm of their mother's heart. Research also shows that the more beat in the words, the more they love to listen and the easier they memorize. Read them with a beat. This book has a strong, hard cover and will last the wear and tear of your children and hopefully for the next generation.

FUN IDEAS FOR READING THE NURSERY RHYMES

1. PERSONALIZE

Where it mentions a name in a nursery rhyme, say your child’s name instead. They love it when you make it personal. Here are some examples for changing the words:

WHO IS SHE? p. 13.

I have a little girl called Molly

She’s so cute, she really is jolly,

     Her smile is so sweet,

     She really is neat,

My girl who is always so jolly!

LITTLE PETER TRUMAN, p. 27

My little Jack is a very brave guy,

He always stands for truth and never tells a lie.

I’ll never hear him swear or do something sly,

My son Jack is a special little guy.

WITH ALL MY MIGHT, p. 16

When Harry has to do a chore,

He does it straight away,

He never grumbles or complains,

There’s always time to play.

He puts a smile upon his face,

Because he knows it’s right.

He puts his shoulder to the task

And does it with his might!

HELLO, p. 47

I’m a little princess, my name is Grace,

I love to dress up and wear pretty lace,

The monster doesn’t like my smiley face,

So he runs away to his naughty place.

YOU’RE PRETTY WHEN YOU SMILE, p. 60

___________, little _____________, why do you frown?

You used to be the prettiest girl in town!

2. EMPHASIZE THE BEAT

Be emphatic when you recite nursery rhymes with your children. Emphasize the rhythm of the beat, especially at the end when words rhyme. This helps them to memorize the rhyme and also to learn rhythm and new words. For example:

I CAN’T STOP LAUGHING, p. 10

I can’t stop laughing,

My sides are SORE,

It’s those kookaburras

With their loud GUFFAW.

they laugh eerie morning,

They laugh every NIGHT       ,

I can’t stop laughing

At the funny SIGHT.

3. CHANT WITH YOU

Encourage your children to recite with you as you read and point to the words. Or you can make up tunes to them and they can sing with you.

4. MISS OUT WORDS

As you read, miss out a rhyming word at the end of the line and see if your children can say the word. They love this. Sometimes you can even add a positive comment at the end. These are wonderful moments to input into your children’s lives.

p. 5.

Jake likes cupcakes, Cindy likes cheese,

But I love spaghetti, more, mommy, _______ .

We always remember to say, "Please" when we ask for something, don't we?

p.6.

If you want to be smart,

Keep truth in your _______ .

God says that we have to have truth right down in the very inward part of our being. If you keep truth in your heart, it will be easy to speak it out of your mouth, won't it?

p. 14.

A baby has come to our house to stay,

I can't wait till he's bigger and we can ________,

He'll be my best friend forever and ever,

Because we are a family that sticks __________ .

p. 16.

I put a smile jupon my face,

Because I know it's right,

I put my shoulder to the task,

And do it with my ___________ .

p. 52

Frowns make your face look really bad,

They zap your energy, which is __________,

Frowns make you feel too weak to play,

They even scare your friends __________"

You won’t ever do that, will you?

p. 36

"Work away, work away,

I am having fun.

Work away, work away,

Singing on the _________ .

Do you like to sing while you work? Let's make up a tune to sing to this song, shall we?

p. 53.

I love helping Mommy with her work,

And from it I will never ____________..

Do you know what this word means?

I get "stuck in," I don't try to flee,

"Lazy" is not in my _______________!

That's a big word, isn't it? Let me hear you say it again.

p. 55

When your foot begins to slip,

God will old you with His ______!

5. FUN PHRASES

Children love fun words to say. One of my children's favorite books I read to them when they were young was "Huge Harold" by Bill Peet. One of the lines read:

"Doggone and Dagnabit,

That's what I call a whoppin' big rabbit."

Today, even in their forties and fifties they still like to quote this phrase from the book and even say it to their children:

Your children will enjoy saying: “Dippy-dabby-doo-dah” p. 23

And “Hoopdee-doo”” p. 32 (which I picked up from a friend who continually used this expression). You or your children may like to add some extra lines to Hoopdee-doo. They will have fun adding extra lines to this poem.

6. CLAP WITH THE BEAT

Sometimes when you read, clap along with the beat, and get your children to clap with you.

7. DO ACTIONS

You or your children can also make up actions to go with the rhymes which they can remember each time. Other times, you could act out the nursery rhyme for your child to copy. Or even better, let them be creative and act it out as you read it.

8. WRONG WORD

Say the wrong word as you read and see if your children correct you!

9. ASK QUESTIONS

There may be some subjects with which your children are not familiar. Ask questions and then discover and research more about them with your children, E.g. the moa on p. 8, 9; the kookaburra on p. chiggers on page 19, the didgeridoo on p. 33; Timbuktu on . 33; the Model T on p. 49.

10. NEW RHYMING WORDS

After reading a nursery rhyme, see if your child can think of another word that rhymes, e.g. OUR NEW CAR, p. 23. The rhyming words are car, far, and star. Ask them if they can think of more words than end with “ar.” Here’s another one: WORK IS FUN, p. 36. The rhyming words end with fun and run. Ask them how many words they can think of that end with “un.” You can gradually do this with all the nursery rhymes.

A-B-C SAY IT WITH ME--Bible Memory Verses

This is a very popular DVD. An enjoyable and easy way for the whole family to memorize and apply the character building truths of God’s Word! It’s especially wonderful for little children. Through songs and stories they learn a Scripture for every letter of the alphabet. They are entertained and learn the Scriptures at the same time. I heartedly recommend it.

MARRIAGE HYMN

I love the hymns of Charles Wesley, but only recently discovered a hymn he wrote for his marriage day. He didn’t marry until he was 40 years, but after much prayer and preparation his brother, John Wesley married him to Sarah Gwynne in a little village church in Wales. Praise, prayer, and thanksgiving were the sole occupations of that day. Charles Wesley wrote: “It was a solemn day, such as became the dignity of Christian marriage.”

I also think we should never lose the dignity of marriage. Above all the celebrations the couple should seek the presence and anointing of God for their wedding day and for all their life through. Here is the hymn he wrote and which was sung at the wedding:

How happy the pair whom Jesus unites

In friendship to share angelic delights

Whose chaste conversation is coupled with fear,

Whose sure expectation is holiness here.

My Jesus, my Lord, Thy grace I commend,

So kind to afford my weakness a friend,

The only good pleasure on me hath bestowed

A heavenly treasure, a servant of God.

DO WE PUT ENOUGH HONOR ON MARRIAGE?

“There never has been a generation whose view of marriage is high enough!”

~ John Piper

I WOULD BE LIKE JESUS

We sang the following hymn at our Family Devotions this morning. Lovely words to contemplate as you mother in your home.

Earthly pleasures vainly call me;
I would be like Jesus;
Nothing worldly shall enthrall me;
I would be like Jesus.

CHORUS:

Be like Jesus, this my song,
In the home and in the throng;
Be like Jesus, all day long!
I would be like Jesus.

He has broken every fetter,
I would be like Jesus;
That my soul may serve Him better,
I would be like Jesus.

All the way from earth to glory,
I would be like Jesus;
Telling o’er and o’er the story,
I would be like Jesus.

That in Heaven He may meet me,
I would be like Jesus;
That His words “Well done” may greet me,
I would be like Jesus.

FAITHFUL CHILDREN

God specifically encourages us as parents to raise FAITHFUL children. Titus 1:6 writes to pastors and elders that they must be men of unquestionable integrity who have “FAITHFUL children not accused of riot or unruly.” This is God’s standard for all parents, but a pastor who leads a flock, must of course hold up this standard.

The word “faithful” is pistos and means children who are “believers who hold to the faith, truthful, trustworthy, and faithful in all things.” The same word is used in the following Scriptures:

Matthew 24:45-47: “Who then is a faithful and wise servant . . . Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing. Verily I say unto you, That he shall make him ruler over all his goods.”

Matthew 25:21, 23: “Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.”

Luke 16:10: “He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much.”

We have a responsibility to live this truth before our children. Do they see us being faithful in the little things of life? Do they see us faithfully doing the same things day after day without grumbling and complaining? Do they see us happily and contentedly changing diapers, preparing meals, and cleaning the house?

As they SEE this attribute in our lives it becomes easier to train them to be faithful in the little things of life. It is a God-given principle that we will only move into greater things as we are faithful to the daily routine of life.

The opposite of faithful children are children who are “accused of riot or unruly (disobedient).” The word “riot” is asotia and is used for extravagant squandering (the same word used of the prodigal son in Luke 15:13). It describes one who easily gives into the flesh, worldly lusts, and appetites.

May God help us we lead our children to faith in Christ (No. 1 ultimate vision for our children) and train them to be faithful and trustworthy in the daily duties of life and home. They will not be ready for greater things unless they learn to be faithful in the little things now.

DIGNIFIED CHILDREN

Did you know the Bible also talks about raising DIGNIFIED children?

1 Timothy 1:4 (NASB) reveals that God doesn’t want unruly children, but dignified children. This Scripture once again talks to pastors and elders (but it applies to all parents): “He must be one who manages his own household well, keeping his children under control with all dignity.”

The word for “dignity” is semnotes and means “dignity, decency, honesty, and inspiring respect and honor from other people.” Dignified children have a good testimony before the world. Aristotle defined this as the virtue between caring to please nobody and endeavoring at all costs to please everybody. Zodhiates Lexical Aids to the New Testament says: "It is the ability to perform well one's duties as a citizen, but in addition showing that the dignity is not from this earth but from heaven, thus drawing respect and reverence."

When specifically speaking to the young men, Titus 2:7 encourages them again about dignity: “In all things show yourself to be an example of good deeds, with purity in doctrine, dignified, sound in speech which is beyond reproach, so that the opponent will be put to shame, having nothing bad to say about us.”

How many of us have dignified children? Dignified in their speech, conduct, and manner of life? So dignified that other people take notice.

Let’s elevate the standard and raise dignified children in this world--children who are good examples of belonging to God’s kingdom and the King of kings and Lord of lords. We must constantly remind them that they belong to royalty.

LET’S COUNT OUR BLESSINGS

Psalm 31:21 says: “Blessed be the Lord for he hath showed me his marvelous kindness.”

God’s MARAVELOUS KINDNESS. What incredible words. Let’s discover what they really mean?

Marvelous is the Hebrew word pala and means “extraordinary, wonderful, miraculous, astonishing, remarkable, and beyond the bounds of human powers or expectations.” It is used in Genesis 18:14: “Is anything too hard (pala) for the Lord?” How could you get a better word than that?

Well, let’s look at kindness. The Hebrew word is chesed and means “God’s everlasting covenant love relationship with His people; lovingkindness, benevolence, goodness, mercy, loyalty, and unfailing love.”

It’s easy to let the days go by and not take time to think of God’s unfailing love and constant blessings to us, isn’t it? After reading that Scripture I wrote down some of my blessings:

Above all I am blessed to have eternal salvation through the sacrificial love of Jesus Christ’s death upon the cross and His blood that He poured out for me. If I received no other blessing, this would be enough.

I am blessed to have a faithful and loving husband. Our marriage of over 52 years is more beautiful every day.

I am blessed to have family all around me--nine children, 42 grandchildren so far, three great-grands and two more on the way. What else could be more enjoyable? The entertainments of this world cannot compare with the joys of family life.

I am blessed with the riches of God’s precious Word, prayer, and fellowship--wonderful Sunday morning church services in our home, glorious worship services on Tuesday nights in downtown Nashville, amazing prayer meetings in our home on Wednesday evenings where so many of the grandchildren come and pray (we often have up to 30 at the prayer meeting praying), beautiful Shabbat evenings on Friday night where we bathe in the presence of God, wonderful Morning and Evening Family devotions every day. What richness!

I am blessed to do the ministry of Above Rubies which touches thousands of women each day.

I am blessed with God’s miraculous provision for our needs and the joy of cooking healthy meals for ourselves and all we invite to our table.

And this is only the beginning.

Let’s constantly count out blessings.

May God pour out His Spirit mightily upon you and all your family.

Blessings to you from Nancy Campbell

P.S. Hope you don’t have to wait too long for your new magazine.
