IT’S A TOGETHER FAITH

TogetherFaithDid you know that your faith in Christ is not only a personal faith, but a TOGETHER faith? Many people like to keep it personal, but that is NOT biblical.

When Paul wrote to the new believers in Rome he said: “That I may be comforted TOGETHER with you by the MUTUAL FAITH both of YOU AND ME” (Romans 1:12). Paul revealed three things in this Scripture:

1. Our Christianity is a “together” lifestyle.
2. Our faith is not only a personal faith, but a “mutual faith.”
3. Our faith is a “you and me” faith.

This is why God designed for us to live together as families. God doesn’t want people to live on their own. He sets the solitary in families (Psalm 68:6). This is why God commands that we meet together as believers and “do not forsake the assembling of ourselves together” (Hebrews 10:25).

You will love the Passion translation of Romans 1:11, 12: “I yearn to come and be FACE-TO FACE with you and get to know you. For I long to impart to you some spiritual gift that will empower you to stand strong in your faith. Now, this means that when we come together and are SIDE BY SIDE, something wonderful will be released. We can expect to be co-encouraged and co-comforted by each other’s faith!”

Our Christianity is a “face to face and side by side” experience. We cannot grow into full maturity in our walk with God without one another (Ephesians 2:19-22 and 4:15, 16).

The Bible also speaks of our “common faith” (Titus 1:4) and our “common salvation” (Jude 1:3). The word “common” is “koinos” and means “sharing by all.” The Passion translation says: “Titus, you are my true son in the FAITH WE SHARE.”

Share your faith together as a family. Never neglect meeting with other believers to encourage one another, inspire one another, teach one another, pray for one another, bless one another, bear one another’s burdens, fellowship with one another, help one another, serve one another, and show hospitality to one anoth3er. These are just a few of the 38 “one anothers” God give us to do to one another and they are all the same Greek word as “mutual faith.” And you can’t do these things hiding away on your own.

It is togethering.

I think of a fire of coals burning brightly. Take one of the coals from off the fire and put it on its own. It is not long before it becomes black and cold with no life in it. Put the coal back in the fire with the other coals and it soon burns brightly again.

Many blessings,

ARE YOU WALKING IN VICTORY?

RUWalkVictoryI have been reading through the book of Revelation recently. I believe we should read this book of the Bible often. We don’t always understand everything that is written but the closer we get to the end, the more we will understand the revelation John saw on the island of Patmos.

I was very challenged as I read Revelation 15:2, 3. John was looking into heaven and writes: “And I saw as it were a sea of glass mingled with fire: and them that had gotten the
victory OVER the beast,
and OVER his image,
and OVER his mark,
and OVER the number of his name,
stand on the sea of glass, having the harps of God. And they sing the song of Moses the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb saying, Great and marvelous are thy works, Lord God Almighty, just and true are thy ways, thou King of saints.”

We need to confess this Scripture out loud repeatedly to get it into our being. God does not want us to give in but to have the victory OVER all evil and deception, and particularly the beast and the mark which we will face in the coming days.

We must also prepare our children for what is coming. We must prepare them to be strong and courageous. We must teach them to NEVER take the mark of the beast. I would encourage you to take this Scripture as a memory verse and memorize it together as a family. I have just memorized these verses myself.

You could say them together OUT LOUD each day when you sit at the table together. And put the emphasis on the word OVER or whatever word your translation gives you. Many translations use the word CONQUER. Doing this will prepare you to live in victory and never cave into Satan’s plans for your destruction.

The word “victory” means to subdue, to conquer, to overcome, to prevail.” It is the same word used in Revelation 12:11: “And they OVERCAME him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.”
It is the same word that speaks of Jesus going “forth CONQUERING and to CONQUER” (Revelation 6:2).

When God commanded Joshua to take the land God promised to the children of Israel, He not only encouraged him to be strong, but to be “Strong and VERY courageous” (Joshua 1:9). I believe we must learn to exercise courage NOW. Courage is far more than an attribute. It is a muscle that gets stronger with use. If we don’t exercise courage, we atrophy and stay weak and wimpy. It takes courage and effort to do something that is not easy. Even if we only have a little courage, if we exercise it, our muscle courage will grow stronger and we’ll find it easier to do difficult things, to stand up for truth, and to resist evil and tyranny.

We must prepare ourselves and our children NOW for that day when we cannot buy or sell if we do not take the mark. We don’t wait until then to be strong. We prepare NOW.

I think of the great heroes of the faith in Hebrews 11. Verse 34 tells of those “who out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of aliens.” They didn’t start out strong. They were weak in faith and courage. But as they exercised their courage, they became stronger. They “became strong out of weakness, became mighty in war . . .” (Darby).

As families, (father sand mothers and our children), let’s cultivate the right attitude now—overcoming, prevailing, conquering, and victorious as we stand strongly against all deception, all evil, and all tyranny.

We don’t want to experience what happened in Nehemiah’s time: “They have dominion over our bodies . . . at their pleasure, and we are in great distress” (Nehemiah 9:37).

Be encouraged today,

GOD IS WITH YOU IN THE BATTLE

WithYouInBattleI am sure I don't have to remind you that we are in a war. We are in a battle between the kingdom of God and the kingdom of Satan, between light and darkness, truth and deception. Every day we wake up we go out to war against the enemy. Praise God, we don't go on our own. The Lord of hosts is with us to give us the victory.

The children of Israel had become servants in the land God had given to them because they gave up warring. After eight years of servitude, they cried out to the Lord, and in His mercy, He gave them a deliverer called Othniel (Caleb's younger brother), a man who loved to face challenges (Judges 1:12-13).

Judges 3:10 says: "And the Spirit of the Lord came upon him (Othniel), and he ... went out to war." The Holy Spirit who lives in you is ready to go to war and defeat the enemy!

When you face a battle in your home or in your life, call upon the Holy Spirit. In His power you will defeat the enemy. In the name of Jesus, you will have the victory. Through the power of the blood of Jesus you will send the enemy running. Don't despise battles. They are for conquering. Every battle you win is another defeat for the enemy of our souls.

1 John 3:8 says: “For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.”

Revelation 6:2 describes Jesus going “forth conquering, and to conquer.” Jesus Christ lives in you to conquer the enemy. And because the conquering Christ lives in your Romans 8:37 reminds you that you are “MORE THAN A CONQUEROR through him that loved us.”

Be encouraged today,

Nancy Campbell

P.S. Look up these Scriptures to remind you that God is with you as you war in the battle (Deuteronomy 9:1-3; Zechariah 4Z:6; Ephesians 6:1; James 4:7; 1 Peter 5:8-9; and Revelation 12:11).

THE NITTY GRITTY OF LIFE

NittyGrittyLifeThe reality of life is our day to day responsibility to manage our homes. Feed, nurture, and train our children. Attend to all the interruptions of our children. But there is another reality, a reality that has the power to affect our daily life in our home. It is the reality of the heavenly.
Jesus told us to pray: “Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven” (Matthew 6:10).

Colossians 3:1-3 (NLT) states: “Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honor at God’s right hand. Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth. For you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God.”

These words seem so far from our experience, don’t they? And yet this is normal Christianity. The realities of the heavenly realm are the TRUE REALITIES. The eternal realm is the real world. This world is passing away. It is like a vapor that appears for a moment and is gone.

When we focus our ordinary, daily life on the eternal, it takes us from the doldrums to delight, from misery to the miraculous, from pre-occupation with self to praising God. Instead of being overwhelmed about all our challenges and problems, we lift our eyes to Christ who sits at the right hand of the Father. We give our difficulties to Him. Nothing is too big for Him to handle.

Did you know that God never gets in a state of confusion or tension? And He dwells in your heart by His Spirit? Therefore, you don’t have to get all tied up in knots. Allow Christ to take control. He’ll do a much better job than you!

Be encouraged today as you read 2 Corinthians 4:1-18: “For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a FAR MORE EXCEEDING AND ETERNAL WEIGHT OF GLORY: While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which re not seen are eternal.”

Many blessings to you today,

ARE YOU READY FOR WARFARE?

ReadyforWarfareIt’s so easy to get burdened down with negative thoughts, isn’t it? I find that if I don’t discipline my thoughts they tend toward self-pity, “poor me, why do I have to put up with all of this?” selfishness, and even my own pitiful thoughts about God which are not worthy of Him.

We must bring our thoughts into captivity for we live as we think. We mother according to how we think. The whole atmosphere of our home depends on how we think! That’s why God wants us to think correctly. That’s why He wants us to be transformed by the daily renewing of His living Word (Romans 12:1 ,2).

2 Corinthians 10:3-5 (HCSB) says: “For though we live in the body, we do not wage war in an unspiritual way, since the weapons of our warfare are not worldly, but are powerful through God for the demolition of strongholds. We demolish arguments (reasonings) and every high-minded thing that is raised up against the knowledge of God, taking every thought captive to obey Christ.”

Are you ready for some warfare? We can’t hope our negative and unbelieving thoughts will disappear. We must take action against them. Demolish them! That’s right. The word literally means “to demolish, destroy, overthrow, and make extinct.”

Speak out: “I refuse these high-minded, deceiving, destructive thoughts in the name of Jesus. They don’t belong to me. I demolish them through the power of the blood of Jesus.”

Now, go to God’s Word and speak His living words out loud. This is how Jesus overcame the enemy (Matthew 4: 3-11). Every time the devil put his thoughts into Jesus’ mind, He demolished them by saying, “It is written.”

Through the Word of God and the power of the name of Jesus you can have victory over your thought life.

Can I get an amen?

Be blessed today,

REST IN THE MIDST OF CHAOS

RestInChaosWhat is it like to walk in the presence of God? Psalm 89:15 says: “Blessed is the people that know the joyful sound: they shall walk, O LORD, in the light of thy countenance.”

In the Scriptures, the countenance of the Lord speaks of His presence. This is the ultimate vision for every believer—to walk continually in the light of His presence. How can you experience this kind of life in your home? Notice the Scriptures says “walk.” It doesn’t say we are blissfully sitting in the presence of the Lord away from all interruptions! Instead, it talks about your daily walk—whatever you are currently doing in your kitchen and with your children.

Are you facing squabbles and constant immaturity of children? Are you overwhelmed with all you must do in your home today? I was just talking to a mother on the phone she quickly said, “Got to go. Children children fighting and even punching!” Does that sound familiar?

The wonderful thing is that God’s presence is not limited to church meetings. God’s presence is available to you constantly. And please remember, dear mother, it is not the hassles, the difficulties, or even sorrow that hides God’s face from you. The only thing that hides His face is our sin and rebellion against Him.

As we seek to walk in holiness and in the light of His countenance, we also walk in the unspeakable joy of His constant presence. He is near us and with us to strengthen us, give us peace, wisdom, and even rest in the midst of chaos!

The Bible commentator, Alexander Maclaren calls it living in “continual sunshine.”

Live in the sunshine of His presence today.

ZEALOUS MOTHERS

ZealousMothersSome people allow themselves to get eaten up inside with bitterness, hurt, and jealousy etc. As mothers, we cannot allow these attitudes in our lives for they destroy us and our entire family. We must keep our spirits whole—pure, blameless, and continually forgiving.

However, there is one area where the Bible tells us we can get “eaten up” inside? Do you know what it is? John 2:17 says of Jesus: “The zeal of thine house hath EATEN ME UP.” In other words, He was consumed with zeal for the honor of God’s house. These words were spoken after Jesus made a whip and cleansed the temple. He drove out all the sheep and oxen, tipped over all the tables and money, and cried out: “Take these things hence; make not my Father’s house a house of merchandise” (John 2:16).

He also cried out: “It is written, my house shall be called the house of prayer: but ye have made it a den of thieves” (Matthew 21:13).

Your home is also God’s house if you have dedicated it to the Lord, which I am sure you have. Therefore, we should have the same zeal Jesus had to protect our homes and families. We are faithful watchwomen who drive all evil out of our homes. Even if we upset everyone! We won’t be tipping over tables and throwing money everywhere, but we’ll be strong enough to take a stand against any evil that seeks to bring darkness into our homes.

We passionately keep our homes holy.

We have the zeal of the Lord about making our home a House of Prayer! If our homes are not homes of prayer, can we call them God’s homes? We plan our schedules around our daily prayer times with our family. We don’t hope it fits in. We make it fit in to our schedule. Or better still, we make our schedule fit around our highest priority, our daily family times of prayer and Bible reading.

Jesus Christ redeemed us to be “zealous of good works” (Titus 2:14). Building your home and family for God is a good work. Do it with zeal. Don’t do it halfheartedly, allowing other things to consume your mind and time. Embrace the great commission God has given to you and pour your heart into it.

Sometimes, some wonderful mothers become zealously involved in a specific interest outside their home and it consumes them. Now, instead of continuing to build up their marriage and their home, they pour their life into this vain emptiness that is temporary and has no eternal value. Their home lies destitute. They are building empty castles in the air instead of building their family.

May the blessings of God fall upon you, dear anointed, zealous, passionate mother.

WHAT’S YOUR STORY?

WhatsURStoryEvery marriage tells a story. What story does my marriage tell? What does yours? We first tell the story to our children for they perceive marriage as they look at us. Does our story make them excited to be married? Do we show them a picture of the relationship of Christ and His church?

Is it a story of constancy that makes them feel secure? Do we tell them the story of God’s ways, showing them clearly the different roles God gives to husband and wife, father and mother? Do they see us joyfully embracing our specific roles? Hopefully, they don’t see a blur, or our taking our husband’s role.

We also tell a story to everyone around us, either positively or negatively. Let’s show our children and the world a beautiful story of God’s plan for enduring marriage.

ARE YOU COVERED?

RUCoveredIsaiah 61:10 says: “I will greatly rejoice in the Lord, my soul shall be joyful in my God, for He hath CLOTHED me with the GARMENTS of salvation, he hath COVERED me with the ROBE of righteousness.” When we accept the salvation God gives to us, He washes away our sins, covers us with the precious blood of Jesus, and clothes us with a robe of righteousness. It’s not our righteousness for we have none of our own, but it’s His righteousness.

This is something that happens to us spiritually. However, everything that happens in the inward man should be revealed in the outward man. Our physical body emanates what goes on in the “hidden man of the heart.” I believe that if we are truly covered with a robe of righteousness inwardly, we will also reveal this work of righteousness within us by covering our physical bodies.

A robe is not a scanty dress; it covers the body. It doesn’t have to cover head to foot, but at least a robe usually covers the top to below the knee. I grieve as I observe women who confess they are Christians and yet blatantly display cleavage, some a little, some as much as they can! It has become so normal in the Christians church that some young Christians think it is standard clothing!

Why would women want to take that which is sacred to the bedroom out into the public market place? And why would husbands. who are the covering of their wives, allow them to leave their home with so much flesh showing? Why do they want the world to see what belongs to them alone (Proverbs 5:15-19).

Revelation 1:6; 5:10; and 20:6 tells us that we have been made “kings and priests unto God.” What kind of clothing does God wants His priests to wear? Exodus 28 tells us all about it. In fact, God is the first clothes designer and He designed glorious clothes for the priests, “FOR GLORY AND FOR BEAUTY” (Exodus 28:2).

The High Priest was most gloriously clothed with a breastplate, a shoulder garment, a robe, an embroidered long shirt, a turban, and a girdle all in amazing colors and precious gems! All the other priests had to wear linen trousers with a long shirt of fine linen, once again “for glory and for beauty.” The main thing we notice is that they were CLOTHED and COVERED, not with drab clothing, but beautiful clothing. This typifies a priest of the most High God.

Are you covered with the robe of righteousness Jesus gives to you? If so, you will want to cover your physical body.

DAY IN AND DAY OUT

DayInDayOutYear after year, Noah did the same old thing—hammered, nailed, and kept on building his ark. Bible commentators suggest different lengths of time for Noah to build the ark, but most believe it was between 50 – 80 years of his life! He did not have time to do all the things that everyone else was doing. He just kept on slogging and being faithful, doing the same thing every day for all those years. In doing so he condemned the world.

He changed the world because he stuck with the job God gave him to do! While others did their own thing, Noah gave his life to obey God’s commandment. He was mocked, ridiculed, and persecuted, but he was the only one who saved his family!

Dear mother, as you embrace the lifestyle of mothering and building a godly home, you too maybe mocked and ridiculed by family and friends. Be encouraged. Your daily faithfulness to your motherly duties in the home are not in vain. Your diligence, perseverance, and commitment to your daily duties are godly character traits.

As you commit your life to building your ark, you will save your family. And more than that, you will influence generations to come, and help to fill eternity.

Hebrews 11:7 says: “By faith Noah, being warned of God of things NOT SEEN AS YET, moved with fear, prepared an ark TO THE SAVING OF HIS HOUSE; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.”

I love the Message Bible which says: “His act of faith drew a sharp line between the evil of the unbelieving world and the rightness of the believing world.”

Today is another building day in your home. Keep at it. Never give up. God is with you.

THE WAITING GAME

WaitingGameWhen God brought forth the first beautiful woman from the side of Adam, what realm did she come into? She immediately came forth to be a wife . . . and then a mother. After the glorious introduction of Eve to Adam, God states: "Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his WIFE: and they shall be one flesh” (Genesis 2:24).

Wow! She didn’t even have time to be single. She didn’t have time to find who she really was. She didn’t have time to have her fling before she settled down into marriage. She didn’t have time to have fun before she had children. She didn’t even have time to go to college!

Now don’t get me wrong. I know there are some women who will not get married. There are others who do not meet “the right one” until their thirties, or even forties. However, the majority meet when they are relatively young. This is God’s plan. This is the way He has created us. This is the time of life when He puts the desire within us for marriage, and yes, for sexual union.

Society today believes in the waiting game. You must wait unto you are more mature. You must wait until you have finished college. You must wait until you are financially settled. You must wait until “you have all your ducks in a row.” You must wait until you have traveled and seen the world! This sounds wise advice, but is it biblical?

We read in Malachi 2: 15 about the “wife of his youth” and Joel 1:8 about the “husband of her youth.” We read in Psalm 127:4 about the “children of your youth.” The word “youth” in the Hebrew word “na’uwr” and means “young people, juvenile.” That doesn’t sound like old to me.

If Colin and I had waited until we were financially secure before we married, we wouldn’t be married yet! If we waited for the “perfect” time to have children, we’d still be waiting!! It all sounds so plausible, but it’s hot air and the wisdom of this world. The reality is that God intends couples to marry young and have children when they are young.

We don’t find who God wants us to be by doing our own thing. We find who we are as women through marriage and motherhood. This is how we mature. This is how a young man matures. There is nothing like marriage to mature a young man. You watch him grow before your eyes (unless he is unteachable and without godly training). Ultimately, God gives parents the responsibility to prepare their children for marriage, from childhood through adolescence. Today, most parents don’t even think of training their children for God’s ultimate purpose for their lives of continuing godly generations.

Amazingly, many couples are quite happy with the waiting game. But what happens with all this waiting? Instead of coming to marriage as pure virgins and righteous young men they come violated. God’s plan is for “young men to marry virgins” (Isaiah 62:5). The waiting game does not help God’s plan.

Why do we think we know better than God?

Blessings,

OUT OF SIGHT AND OUT OF MIND

ResistDevilThe greatest blessing, stability, and power of the nation are godly homes—homes where the husband and wife love one another and together raise godly children to influence the world. Satan also knows the power of the home and tries to woo women away from their greatest place of influence.

He is not content with wooing the mother out of the home. He even comes to homes where mothers have come home to raise their children. He searches for ways to get his foot in the door, bringing in his deception and evil.

Mothers, we must be watchwomen, constantly on the alert for his crafty ways. 1 Peter 5:8, 9 says: “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: whom resist steadfast in the faith.”

When you notice the devil putting his toe in your door, boot him out before he gets any further. Speak the name of Jesus out loud. Confess the Scriptures out loud. Don’t allow the enemy to become entrenched in your home. Raise up the stand of righteousness. Cast out all worldly practices and entertainment, and “the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life” (1 John 2:15-17). Deal strongly with negative and evil habits.

God spoke to His servant, David: “I have cut off all thine enemies OUT OF THY SIGHT” (1 Samuel 7:9). God reveals the way He wants us to also deal with Satan’s temptations. We cast them OUT OF OUR SIGHT! We don’t allow them to linger around. We don’t tolerate them. We send them kicking, OUT OF SIGHT AND OUT OF MIND.

James 4:7: “RESIST the devil, and he will flee from you.”

THE HARNESS OF THE LORD

CarriageYears ago, before I was married, I read a very powerful vision that affected my life. This vision, called “The Harness of the Lord,” came to Brill Britton back in 1960, but the message is still as valid for our lives today. I thought I would share it with you and trust you will be blessed.
~ Nancy

THE HARNESS OF THE LORD

I SAW THE KING'S CARRIAGE

On a dirt road in the middle of a wide field stood a beautiful carriage, something on the order of a stagecoach but all edged in gold and with beautiful carvings. It was pulled by six large chestnut horses: two in the lead, two in the middle and two in the rear. But they were not moving, they were not pulling the carriage, and I wondered why. Then I saw the driver underneath the carriage on the ground on his back just behind the last two horses' heels working on something between the front wheels on the carriage. I thought, "My, he is in a dangerous place; for if one of those horses kicked or stepped back, they could kill him, or if they decided to go forward, or got frightened somehow, they would pull the carriage right over him." But he didn't seem afraid for he knew that those horses were disciplined and would not move till he told them to move. The horses were not stamping their feet nor acting restless, and though there were bells on their feet, the bells were not tinkling. There were pom-poms on their harness over their heads but the pom-poms were not moving. They were simply standing still and quiet waiting for the voice of the Master.

THERE WERE TWO YOUNG COLTS IN THE FIELD

As I watched the harnessed horses I noticed two young colts coming out of the open field and they approached the carriage and seemed to say to the horses: "Come and play with us, we have many fine games, we will race with you, come catch us." And with that the colts kicked up their heels flicked their tails and raced across the open field. But when they looked back and saw the horses were not following they were puzzled. They knew nothing of the harnesses and could not understand why the horses did not want to play. So they called to them: "Why do you not race with us? Are you tired? Are you too weak? Do you not have strength to run? You are much too solemn, you need more joy in life." But the horses answered not a word nor did they stamp their feet or toss their heads. But they stood, quiet and still, waiting for the voice of the Master.

Again the colts called to them: "Why do you stand so in the hot sun? Come over here in the shade of this nice tree. See how green the grass is? You must be hungry, come and feed with us, it is so green and so good. You look thirsty, come drink of one of our many streams of cool clear water." But the horses answered them not so much as a glance but stood still waiting for the command to go forward with the King.

COLTS IN THE MASTER'S CORRAL

And then the scene changed and I saw lariat nooses fall around the necks of the two colts and they were led off to the Master's corral for training and discipline. How sad they were as the lovely green fields disappeared and they were put into the confinement of the corral with its brown dirt and high fence. The colts ran from fence to fence seeking freedom but found that they were confined to this place of training. And then the Trainer began to work on them with His whip and His bridle. What a death for those who had been all their lives accustomed to such a freedom! They could not understand the reason for this torture, this terrible discipline. What crime had they done to deserve this? Little did they know of the responsibility that was to be theirs when they had submitted to the discipline, learned to perfectly obey the Master and finished their training. All they knew was that this processing was the most horrible thing they had ever known.

SUBMISSION AND REBELLION

One of the colts rebelled under the training and said, "This is not for me. I like my freedom, my green hills, my flowing streams of fresh water. I will not take any more of this confinement, this terrible training." So he found a way out jumped the fence and ran happily back to the meadows of grass. I was astonished that the Master let him go and went not after him. But He devoted His attention to the remaining colt. This colt though he had the same opportunity to escape decided to submit his own will and learn the ways of the Master. The training got harder than ever but he was rapidly learning more and more how to obey the slightest wish of the Master and to respond to even the quietness of His voice. And I saw that had there been no training, no testing, there would have been neither submission nor rebellion from either of the colts. For in the field they did not have the choice to rebel or submit, they were sinless in their innocence. But when brought to the place of testing and training and discipline, then was made manifest the obedience of one and the rebellion of the other. And though it seemed safer not to come to the place of discipline because of the risk of being found rebellious, yet I saw that without this there could be no sharing of His glory, no Sonship.

INTO THE HARNESS

Finally this period of training was over. Was he now rewarded with his freedom and sent back to the fields? Oh no. But a greater confinement than ever now took place as a harness dropped about his shoulders. Now he found there was not even the freedom to run about the small corral for in the harness he could only move where and when his Master spoke. And unless the Master spoke he stood still.

The scene changed and I saw the other colt standing on the side of a hill nibbling at some grass. Then across the fields, down the road came the King's carriage drawn by six horses. With amazement he saw that in the lead, on the right side, was his brother colt now made strong and mature on the good corn in the Master's stable. He saw the lovely pom-poms shaking in the wind, noticed the glittering gold bordered harness about his brother, heard the beautiful tinkling of the bells on his feet -- and envy came into his heart. Thus he complained to himself: "Why has my brother been so honored, and I am neglected? They have not put bells on MY feet nor pom-poms on MY head. The Master has not given ME the wonderful responsibility of pulling His carriage, has not put about ME the gold harness. Why have they chosen my brother instead of me?" And by the Spirit the answer came back to me as I watched: "Because one submitted to the will and discipline of the Master and one rebelled, thus has one been chosen and the other set aside."

A FAMINE IN THE LAND

Then I saw a great drought sweep across the countryside and the green grass became dead, dry, brown and brittle. The little streams of water dried up, stopped flowing, and there was only a small muddy puddle here and there. I saw the little colt (I was amazed that it never seemed to grow or mature) as he ran here and there across the fields looking for fresh streams and green pastures finding none. Still he ran, seemingly in circles, always looking for something to feed his famished spirit. But there was a famine in the land and the rich green pastures and flowing streams of yesterday were not to be had. And one day the colt stood on the hillside on weak and wobbly legs wondering where to go next to find food and how to get strength to go. It seemed like there was no use, for good food and flowing streams were a thing of the past and all the efforts to find more only taxed his waning strength. Suddenly he saw the King's carriage coming down the road pulled by six great horses. And he saw his brother, fat and strong, muscles rippling, sleek and beautiful with much grooming. His heart was amazed and perplexed, and he cried out: "My brother where do you find the food to keep you strong and fat in these days of famine? I have run everywhere in my freedom, searching for food, and I find none. Where do you in your awful confinement find food in this time of drought? Tell me, please, for I must know!" And then the answer came back from a voice filled with victory and praise: "In my Master's House there is a secret place in the confining limitations of His stables where He feeds me by His own hand and His granaries never run empty and His well never runs dry." And with this the Lord made me to know that in the day when people are weak and famished in their spirits in the time of spiritual famine that those who have lost their own wills and have come into the secret place of the most High into the utter confinement of His perfect will shall have plenty of the corn of Heaven and a never ending flow of fresh streams of revelation by His Spirit.

Thus the vision ended.

INTERPRETATION OF THE VISION

"Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it," (Habakkuk 2:2).                     (Jeremiah 46:4). I am sure that many of you who can hear what the Spirit saith to the Church have already seen what God was showing in the vision. But let me make it plain. Being born into the Family of God feeding in the green pastures and drinking of the many streams of the unfolding revelation of His purposes is fine and wonderful. But it is not enough. While we were children, young and undisciplined, limited only by the outer fence of the Law that ran around the limits of the pastures (that kept us from getting into the dark pastures of poison weeds) He was content to watch us develop and grow into young manhood, spiritually speaking. But the time came to those who fed in His pastures and drank at His streams, when they were to be brought into discipline or "child-training" for the purpose of making them mature Sons. Many of the children today cannot understand why some of those who have put on the harness of God cannot get excited by the many religious games and the playful antics of the immature. They wonder why the disciplined ones run not after every new revelation or feed on every opportunity to engage in seemingly "good and profitable" religious activities. They wonder why some will not race with them in their frantic efforts to build great works and great and notable ministries. They cannot understand the simple fact that this Company of saints is waiting for the voice of the Master and they do not hear God in all this outward activity. They will move in their time when the Master speaks. But not before, though many temptations come from the playful colts. And the colts cannot understand why those who seemingly appear to have great abilities and strength are not putting it to good use. "Get the carriage on the road," they say, but the disciplined ones, those in God's harness, know better than to move before they hear the voice of the Master. They will move in their time with purpose and great responsibility.

And the Lord made me to know that there were many whom He had brought into training who had rebelled against the discipline, the chastising of the Father. They could not be trusted with the great responsibility of mature Sonship so He let them go back to their freedom, back to their religious activities and revelations and gifts. They are still His people, still feeding in His pastures, but He has set them aside from the great purposes for this end of the age. So they revel in their freedom feeling that they were the Chosen Ones with the many streams of living water not knowing that they have been set aside as unfit for His great work in this end of the age.

He showed me that though the chastising seemeth grievous for the time and the discipline hard to endure yet the result with all the glory of Sonship is worth it all and the glory to follow far exceeds the suffering we endure. And though some lose even their lives in this training yet they will share alike in the glory of His eternal purposes. So faint not saints of God for it is the Lord that doth bring thee into confinement and not thine enemy. It is for thy good and for His glory so endure all things with praises and thanksgiving that He hath counted thee worthy to share His glory! Fear thou not the whip in His hand for it is not to punish thee but to correct and train thee that thou mightest come into submission to His will and be found in His likeness in that hour. Rejoice thou in thy trials in all thy tribulations and glory thou in His cross and in the confining limitations of His harness for He hath chosen thee and He hath taken upon Himself the responsibility of keeping thee strong and well fed. So lean thou upon Him and trust not in thine own ability and thine own understanding. So shalt thou be fed and His hand shall be upon thee and His glory shall overshadow thee and shall flow through thee as it goes forth to cover the earth. Glory to God! Bless the Lord! He's wonderful! Let Him be Lord of your life, friends, and complain not at that which He bringeth to pass in your life.

PLENTY IN THE TIME OF FAMINE

For in the hour when famine sweeps the land He shall feed by His own hand those who are submitted to His perfect will and who dwell in the secret place of the Most High. When terror stalks the land those in His harness shall not be afraid for they shall feel His bit and bridle and know the guidance of His Spirit. When others are weak and frail and fearful there shall be those who shall be strong in the power of His might and shall lack for no good thing. In the hour when the traditions of the religious systems have proven false and their streams have dried up, then His Chosen Ones shall speak forth with the true Word of the Lord. So rejoice, Sons of God, that you have been chosen by His grace for this great work in this last hour.

The fence which kept the colts in their own meadows and their own pastures mean nothing to the team in the harness for the gates open to them and they go forth pulling the King's carriage into many strange and wonderful places. They do not stop to eat the poison weeds of sin for they feed only in the Master's stable. These fields they trample under their feet as they go forth on the King's business. And so to those who are brought into absolute subjection to His will there is no Law. For they move in the Grace of God led only by His Spirit where all things are lawful but not all things are expedient. This is a dangerous realm for the undisciplined and many have perished in sin as they leaped over the fence without His harness and His bridle. Some have thought of themselves as being completely harnessed and submissive to Him only to find that in some avenue of their life there dwelled rebellion and self-will. Let us wait before Him until He puts His noose around us and draws us to His place of training. And let us learn of the dealings of God and the moving of His Spirit until at last we feel His harness drop about us and hear His voice guiding us. Then there is safety from the traps and pitfalls of sin and then shall we abide in His House forever!

GOD LOVES LEFTOVERS

GodLovesLeftoversWe read about a wonderful provision miracle in the Old Testament. There was a famine in the land, but a man bought the provision of food—a sack of grain and 20 loaves of barley bread made from the first grain harvest, to the prophets. Elisha was there and told his servant to prepare it for everyone.

“That won’t be enough for 100 prophets” he said. But Elisha replied, “God has told me that everyone will eat and there will even be some left over!” And that’s exactly what happened. God not only multiplied the food to feed all the prophets but made sure there was plenty left over for the next day!

It was a similar miracle to the feeding of the five thousand plus where there were 12 basketfuls left over!

Do you remember the time when Elijah was completely wiped out? As he lay down to sleep God was watching over him and sent his angel to bake a cake for him on some coals and provide a cruise of water. When the food was ready the angel told Elijah to wake up and eat and drink. He ate God’s wonderful provision and went back to sleep again.

But God didn’t only plan enough for one meal, but two meals. After he had enjoyed another good sleep, the angel woke Elijah and told him to eat again, which he did. The food was so good and so nourishing that he “went in the strength of that meat for forty days” (1 Kings 19: 4-8).

When God provides, He provides in abundance. God is the God of the MORE THAN ENOUGH! The words “left over” is the Hebrew word “yathar” and it means “to exceed, to jut over, to remain and be left, to cause to abound, plenteous, too much.”

It’s the same word that is used when the children of Israel brought too much stuff for the building of the sanctuary. They had to stop them giving. Exodus 36:7 says: “For the stuff they had was sufficient for all the work to make it, and TOO MUCH.”

It is very similar to the Greek word “perisseuo” which is used in the feeding of the five thousand and where there was food left “over and above” what was needed! “Perisseuo” means “to superabound, to be abundant, enough and to spare, exceed, increase, over and above.”

God always loves us to be like Him. He is not stingy. When he makes food, he makes more than enough! There’s plenty for everyone. There are leftovers for the next day. Don’t you love leftovers? They even taste better the next day, don’t they?

But God does not like waste. He made sure that all the food that was left over was gathered and saved (Matthew 14:20). Teach your children to only take what they can eat so they don’t waste food by leaving it on their plates. I don’t belong to the “throw-away” generation.

Then if you have cooked a big potful of food, you are ready for the next day, or for extra people who may arrive on your doorstep.

“Freely ye have received. Freely give” (Matthew 10:8).

“Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again” (Luke 6:38).

“Love ever gives, forgives, outlives, and while it lives, it gives!
For this is love’s prerogative, to give and give and give!”

Be blessed and I hope you enjoy your leftovers tomorrow!

ARE YOU WEARING YOUR CROWN TODAY?

WearCrownDid you know that God wants you to wear a golden crown on your head each day? In fact, we can’t live without it. We learn about this from the clothing God designed for the high priest in Exodus 28:36-38. Everything that was written in the Old Testament was written for our learning (Romans 15:4 and 1 Corinthians 10:11). And of course, we are called “kings and priests unto God” (Revelation 1:6; and 5:10).

We read that Aaron had to wear a miter (turban) on his head. God also commanded Moses to make a plate of pure gold into a crown and engrave it with the words, HOLINESS TO THE LORD. Aaron wore the golden crown, which was placed on blue lace and attached to the turban, on his forehead. And he had to wear it CONTINUALLY! The Bible says that “it shall be ALWAYS upon his forehead.”
This golden crown was called “THE HOLY CROWN.” It speaks of keeping our minds pure and holy before the Lord. All evil comes through the mind. Doubts. Deceptions. Self pity thoughts. They all begin in the ind. This is where we are first tempted. Therefore, it is most important to wear our holy crown each day. We don’t wear it physically, but by faith we put on our golden crown of HOLINESS TO THE LORD.

When evil and negative thoughts come to your mind, don’t accept them. When you wear your crown, they will hit the golden crown of holiness and bounce off. When grumbling, complaining, self-pitying, and unbelieving thoughts come to your mind, resist them in the name of Jesus. You have a protective golden crown on your forehead.

Not only did Aaron wear the crown continually, but it had to be saturated with the anointing oil, speaking of the HOLY Spirit. We cannot do this in the power of the flesh, but only by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Learn to wear your crown by faith each day. Teach your children this lesson and how to get into the habit of wearing it. Teach them to be proactive about keeping their minds pure. Teach them the truths from the following Scriptures and make them memory verses: Psalm 119:9 11; Romans 12:2; 2 Corinthians 10:4, 5; Philippians 4:8; 1 Peter 13; and James 4:7.

Proverbs 4:14, 15 (NLT) reminds us what to do about an evil thought or being tempted to go down an evil path:
AVOID IT, DON’T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT,
DON’T GO THAT WAY,
TURN AWAY FROM IT,
AND KEEP MOVING ON!

Be blessed today,

Nancy Campbell

P.S. To read more about the golden crown, go to: Exodus 28:36-38; 29:6, 7; 39:30, 31; and Leviticus 8:9-11.

THE SILENT ABORTION

SilentAbortionby Meadow Hall

Many people don't know that hormonal birth control pills can kill an unborn baby.

Or if you’ve heard the claims that birth control can act as abortifacients, maybe you dismissed them as myths when you did a simple google search and found articles similarly titled “Birth Control and Abortion: How they’re different - WebMD”. Maybe you breathed a sigh of relief after your doctor laughed and assured you, “birth control are not abortifacients”.

“Only the far-right, religious zealots would make an unscientific claim like that… it’s just another attempt to control women.”. I’ve seen feminists go to war on social media in an effort to defend the image of birth control. I can see why… It is a symbol of female empowerment and what brought a massive movement of women into the workplace. For some, birth control is sacred. And to be against birth control could be taken as personally as being against women.

Even christians and those who identify as pro-life will argue that being against birth control is taking it too far. “We’re about preventing abortions… not stopping people from preventing pregnancies. Come on now, you’re making the rest of us look bad.”

So why take on such a an extreme stance? Why do some, such as myself, go out on a limb to say birth control can cause abortions?
Can they?

It all depends upon whether or not you believe life begins at fertilization…

When it comes to the science, there are three different ways hormonal birth control was designed to prevent pregnancy.
1. Stopping or reducing ovulation.
2. Thickening the cervical mucus to prevent sperm from entering the uterus.
3. Thinning the lining of the uterus to prevent an already fertilized egg from implanting into the uterus and thus… killing the fertilized egg.

Hormonal birth control doesn’t just stop ovulation… it can kill a fertilized egg. This is a scientific fact. Clinical research doesn’t deny this. Doctors don’t deny this… But they’ll still tell you that they’re not “abortifacients”. And there’s a reason why they can get away with that.

According to the scientific community, pregnancy only begins after a fertilized egg has already implanted into the wall of the uterus. But this was not always the case. The medical community used to define conception and the beginning of a pregnancy as the moment sperm meets egg, or in other words… the start of a human being.

It wasn’t until 1965 that the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists adopted a new definition,"conception is the implantation of a fertilized ovum.” Interestingly, this new definition took place five years after the first oral contraceptive was approved by the FDA (1960), and the same year that the Supreme Court ruled that married couples have a constitutional right to privacy which includes the right to use birth control, and the same year that The U.S. Agency for International Development’s population and reproductive health program began the goal of reducing birth rates in developing countries (1965). The timing of the change can only mean it was politically instead of scientifically motivated.

With this new definition of pregnancy, the ethical problems were out of the way. Doctors could now assure their patients that the pill only prevents pregnancy, and does not cause abortions… Just like they’re still telling you today.

As Christians, many of us hold the belief that life is sacred as soon as sperm meets egg. It is at that very moment that the fertilized egg already possesses all the DNA for a human being. The value of that life is not simply determined by the location of the baby (the implantation of the uterus). The value is the beginning of life itself.

So to answer the question - are birth control abortifacients? If the egg and sperm never meet, and only prevention of ovulation occurs, then the answer is no. But if the egg is fertilized, and there is a unique human life that is prevented from implanting into the uterus, then morally speaking - yes. It then becomes an abortion-inducing-drug. And unfortunately, there is no way to prevent this if you are being sexually active while taking the pill.

You might say that many fertilized eggs are never able to implant into the uterus anyway, and they die naturally before a woman ever knows she’s pregnant… While that’s true, what about the ones who would have implanted if they had been given a chance? And if allowed to continue their natural process, what if they could have developed into full-term pregnancies?

As someone who’s suffered through three miscarriage myself, I could never put myself in a position where I would knowingly take something that could intentionally kill my baby. I understand how fragile fertility can be. But I also understand the importance of protecting my fertility and protecting my baby’s chances of surviving if fertilization occurs… Because I believe in the sanctity of life.

I understand that so many women are unaware of this, and many women who value human life would probably be horrified to learn this if they were on birth control. But women deserve to know the truth about hormonal birth control. They deserve to know that they could be putting their children at risk.

If we are standing up for the right of the unborn - we must stand against all the ways unborn babies are being killed. Not enough people are bringing awareness to the fact that hormonal contraceptives can kill a baby. There are women who believe life is sacred at fertilization and they’re on the pill, because they’ve never been told the truth…

Women deserve better. Babies deserve to be protected.

And sometimes exposing a necessary truth comes at the cost of being labeled an extremist.

ARE WE RAISING DIGNIFIED CHILDREN?

DignifiedChildrenIn my last post I wrote about having faithful children. Did you know the Bible also talks about raising DIGNIFIED children?
The word to pastors and elders in 1 Timothy 3:4 (AMP) exhorts pastors and elders: “He must be one who manages his own household well, keeping his children under control with all dignity.” Although this is written to pastors who are to lead the way for their flocks, it is God’s plan for all parents.

I believe this Scripture means that the father uses dignity in bringing his children into subjection, but it also means that he raises them to walk in dignity. God doesn’t want unruly children, but dignified children.

The word for “dignity” is "semnotes" and means “dignity, decency, honesty, and inspiring respect and honor from other people.” Dignified children have a good testimony before the world.

When specifically speaking to the young men, Titus 2:7 (NASB) also encourages them about dignity: “In all things show yourself to be an example of good deeds, with purity in doctrine, dignified, sound in speech which is beyond reproach, so that the opponent will be put to shame, having nothing bad to say about us.”

How many of us have dignified children? Dignified in their speech, conduct, clothing, and manner of life? So dignified that other people take notice.

Let’s elevate the standard and raise dignified children in this world—children who are good examples of belonging to God’s kingdom and the King of kings and Lord of lords. We must constantly remind them that they belong to royalty.

Blessings to you from Nancy Campbell

RAISING FAITHFUL CHILDREN

RaiseFaithfulChildrenGod specifically encourages us as parents to raise FAITHFUL children. Titus 1:6 writes to pastors and elders that they must be men of unquestionable integrity who have “FAITHFUL children not accused of riot or unruly.” This is God’s standard for all parents, but a pastor who leads a flock, must of course hold up this standard.

The word “faithful” is “pistos” and means children who are “believers who hold to the faith, truthful, trustworthy, and faithful in all things.” The same word is used in the following Scriptures:

Matthew 24:45-47: “Who then is a faithful and wise servant . . . Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing. Verily I say unto you, That he shall make him ruler over all his goods.”

Matthew 25:21, 23: “Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.”

Luke 16:10: “He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much.”

We have a responsibility to live this truth before our children. Do they see us being faithful in the little things of life? Do they see us faithfully doing the same things day after day without grumbling and complaining? Do they see us happily and contentedly changing diapers, preparing meals, and cleaning the house? As they SEE this attribute in our lives it becomes easier to train them to be faithful in the little things of life.

The opposite of faithful children are children who are “accused of riot or unruly (disobedient).” The word “riot” is “asotia” and is used for extravagant squandering (the same word used of the prodigal son in Luke 15:13). It describes one who easily gives into the flesh, worldly lusts, and appetites.

Pray for God’s anointing as you lead your children to faith in Christ (No. 1 ultimate vision for our children) and train them to be faithful and trustworthy in the daily duties of life and home.

It is a God-given principle that we, and also our children, will only move into greater things as we are faithful to the daily routine of life.

Be blessed today,

Nancy Campbell

PRAYER BRACELETS

PrayerBraceletsPrayerBracelets2
Back in Above Rubies #93 my friend Pam Fields wrote an article about Prayer Bracelets. Pam got this idea of making a bracelet to wear for each of her children to remember to pray for them each day. She made beaded bracelets with each name.

As she prayed for each one during the day, she would change the bracelet to the other hand so she knew she had prayed for them. If she still had names on one arm at the end of the day, she still had some praying to do!

I thought it was such a great idea but didn’t think it would work for me with so many names to pray for in our family. I would need over 100 bracelets! However, recently I realized that of course I could do it. I only needed a bracelet for each name to represent their whole family. I mentioned it to Pam, and she lovingly made me a set for my birthday. She even gave me a lovely vase to put the bracelets on at the end of the day (after everyone is prayed for). I am so blessed to have them.

Now it is another tangible way to remember to pray for all the members of our family. As I take the name of one bracelet, I remember to pray for all the members of that family.

If you would like to read more about it and how to go about making them, go to the link below.
