ABOVE RUBIES MINI-NEWSLETTER #2, Sept 2012
Dear Above Rubies reader,
Oh please forgive me. I have not kept up with newsletters to you this year as I should.
Quick Index:
Let's Get The Message To The World
100 Days Of Blessing, Volume 2
Help Protect Traditional Marriage
TRIM HEALTHY MAMA
The biggest thing that kept me so busy was Serene and Pearl's new book, TRIM HEALTHY MAMA. From March until August I worked nearly full time on it. Praise the Lord, it is now ready and if you haven't ordered it yet, you certainly won't want to miss out on this book. Yes, it's a big book -- 640 pages of the most cutting edge information.
It's actually a one-stop book. You won't need to buy three books on different subjects, but instead, you'll get everything you need in the one book.

LET'S GET THE MESSAGE TO THE WORLD
As I write this, the new magazine, #85 is rolling off the presses so I hope it won't be too long before you receive it. I know it is going to be a blessing to you. However, it is sad that Above Rubies is still unknown to thousands. I was at a Homeschooling Curriculum Fair earlier this year and was amazed that nearly every mother who passed by our booth had never heard of Above Rubies! Wow, if homeschooling mothers haven't heard of it, what about the families in the church, and what about the rest of the world?
My vision is to get an Above Rubies into every home in the nation, Christian and non-Christian. We can do this as we all work together. Feel free to give Above Rubies to everyone you meet. If you only receive one copy, you are welcome to write for more. Or, you can email me the names of friends and contacts and we will be happy to send a magazine to these people. Email me at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
If you would like to read some ideas on how to share Above Rubies, go to the following link:
http://tinyurl.com/DistributingIdeas
These are all great ideas, but I still think the greatest idea is always having a few Above Rubies in a plastic bag in your handbag ready to give to mothers you meet at church, in the supermarket, and wherever you happen to be.
GOBZA LINK
As you will notice, Above Rubies #85 is only the second issue of Above Rubies we have printed this year, although my vision is to print four issues a year. Above Rubies is only accomplished by the donations of those who give to this ministry because they have a vision to get this message out to the nation. Sadly, only a small percentage of our readers donate to Above Rubies.
However, I have always made Above Rubies freely available to readers worldwide, in whatever quantity they can effectively use. We don’t want anyone to go without the magazine because they can’t afford it, and we don’t want anyone to not get as many as they can give away because they can’t afford them. This, of course, is a big step of faith for me and we are constantly trusting God for the finances.
My husband and I have recently come in contact with GOBZA, which we thought may be an extra way you could support Above Rubies financially by blessing yourself at the same time, and without cost to yourself. Gobza is an online advertising portal which has been specifically designed to help fund Christian ministries (although it is not limited to that). By registering through the Above Rubies unique Gobza link, you will obtain your own unique Gobza link.
You can then share your Gobza link with your friends and family, and benefit from the savings. Above Rubies will get a small percentage of what you spend.
Gobza launched in Texas this month, and will soon have links to many large retail chains where you will be able to buy your favorite high street brands through Gobza around the world. Gobza is just starting out and this is a ground floor opportunity to establish long term funding for this very important ministry.
If you feel this is a way you could help Above Rubies keep going to get the message of encouragement and strength to the mothers and families of the world, all you have to do is sign on at www.gobza.com/aboverubiesas a customer, business, or non-profit, as applicable.
All business transacted through this address helps fund the ministry. And, it costs you NOTHING! That's what I like! Don't you? If you have your own business, please register your business with Gobza.
If you want to understand more, you can watch the short videos on the website, www.gobza.com/aboverubieswhich will explain all you need to know.
You may like to check out this one too. Once again, no money involved, otherwise I wouldn't mention it. Go to: www.ultimatepowerprofits.com/MrC72
CELEBRATING 35 YEARS
Can you believe it? I have been now publishing Above Rubies for 35 years this September. I started Above Rubies way Down Under in Palmerston North, New Zealand in September 1977 and have never stopped. Has it been easy? Certainly not. They say that a vision is "One percent inspiration and 99 percent perspiration." When I started, I never looked 35 years into the future. But, God has been so faithful and enabled me to keep plodding on in the face of all obstacles.
It is my life and my vision, as an older mother, to be available to the mothers of the nations. Each one of you are doing such a remarkable job as you nurture and train the precious children God has given you. But, I know you need encouragement along the way. That's why I give my life to undergird you, encourage you, strengthen you, and inspire you through the magazine and every other way possible.
Val Stares, the Director of Above Rubies in Australia has worked with me in this ministry since its inception. She worked right alongside me in New Zealand. When we moved to Australia in 1982, she and her husband and family moved with us to keep helping in the ministry. When we moved to USA in 1991, Val took over the leadership in Australia. And now, Val's sister, Heather Jones, leads Above Rubies in New Zealand. What a blessing to have such faithful co-laborers all these years. In the early days, we all raised our children together in Palmerston North, New Zealand.
TRIP TO ISRAEL
I have recently returned from a trip to Israel, which was an unexpected blessing God gave to me. Val and Heather were planning this trip and asked me to join them to celebrate our 35 years of working in Above Rubies together. I didn't feel I had the time, or the finance to go, but it was obviously on God's heart. Behind my back, He unexpectedly and wondrously provided. And it certainly was a wonderful thing for the three of us to do together as we celebrated our service to the Lord in this ministry of Above Rubies. And what better way than going to Israel?
Although Colin and I have led tours to Israel in the past, I hadn't been for many years. This trip we went with the Jerusalem Prayer Team. Check out their website: http://www.jerusalemprayerteam.org
Once again, I loved visiting the places where Jesus walked and where He died and rose again. I loved visiting the Garden of Gethsemane where we could look over to the Golden Gate of Jerusalem where Jesus will one day walk through, although this gate is closed at the present time, according the Word of the Lord (Ezekiel 44:2-3). I loved standing on the Mount of Olives, knowing that this is the place where Jesus will come again and put His feet.
And I loved praying at the Wailing Wall in Jerusalem, the most blessed thing I love to do in Jerusalem. But, don't stop praying for Jerusalem just because you are not there. We dare not give up praying, especially when Jerusalem and the land are surrounded by enemies who hate them. And sadly, even our own government is no longer a friend to Israel.
I always love going up to the top of Masada to see the place where the Jews took their last stand before the Romans captured the fort. And yes, I walked down the Snake Path from the top of Masada again! It's my tradition to do this, but, in the intense heat, not another person on the tour joined me!
I loved the privilege of being able to plant a tree in Israel. And I loved visiting some holocaust survivors. Isn't it amazing that there are some people who will not believe there was a Jewish holocaust. But, we met them in person. We were overwhelmed when we visited Yad Vashem and saw the history of the holocaust.
We loved traveling over the Sea of Galilee. It was a beautiful sunny day (and we didn't encounter a storm as the disciples did!) They joined two boats together to accommodate the 120 people traveling with the Jerusalem Prayer Team. The atmosphere was great as we sang hymns together on the Sea of Galilee.
We also sang our national anthems, Americans proudly singing The Star Spangled Banner with all our hearts. But, there were a few Australians and we sang the Australian anthem. Although I am now a US citizen, not to be outdone, Val, Heather, and I sang the New Zealand national anthem. I am sad to say it was rather a pathetic tribute to New Zealand as none of us can even sing in tune!!! A pity, because the words of the New Zealand anthem are amazing. And of course, we sang Ha Tikva, the Israel national anthem.
A DAY ON THE WEST BANK
However, I have to tell you about our greatest day in Israel. Val, Heather and I were very privileged to spend one evening and the next day in the biblical heartland of Israel, which is currently called the West Bank. We stayed in the temporary dwellings and tents with Tommy and Sherri Waller and their family, and the 120 workers (singles and families) they are bringing in from all over the world to help harvest the grapes on the hills of Samaria.
We were up at 5.00 in the morning on the misty hillside to help pick the luscious bunches of grapes. What a joyful privilege to fulfill Bible prophecy. Over two and a half thousand years ago the prophet wrote, "Strangers shall stand and feed your flocks and the sons of the alien shall be your plowmen and your vinedressers" (Isaiah 61:5). Isn't that amazing?
It is incredible to see these fruitful vineyards growing out of the barren rocky soil. It is nothing less than miraculous. It reminds me of Psalm 102:14, "For thy servants take pleasure in her stones, and favor the dust thereof." The farmers of the West Bank were told the soil was not suitable for growing vineyards, but they obeyed God's plan for the land rather than a soil test. Jeremiah 31:5 says, "Thou shalt yet plant vines upon the mountains of Samaria, the planters shall plant, and shall eat them as common things."
Did you know that God not only speaks to His literal people of Israel, but He also speaks to His land? Read Ezekiel, chapter 36. I'd love you to read the whole chapter, but here are some little excerpts, "Therefore, ye mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Lord God; Thus saith the Lord God to the mountains, and to the hills, to the rivers, and to the valleys, to the desolate wastes, and to the cities that are broken... O mountains of Israel, ye shall shoot forth your branches, and yield your fruit to my people of Israel; for they are at hand to come. (Now that God's people have come, and are continuing to come, back to the land, God is speaking to it to bring forth fruit. It is happening through the divine Word of the Lord)! "For, behold I am for you, and I will turn unto you, and ye shall be tilled and sown: and I will multiply men upon you, all the house of Israel, even all of it: and the cities shall be inhabited, and the wastes shall be builded... they shall increase and bring fruit: and I will settle you after your old estates, and will do better unto you than at your beginnings: and ye shall know that I am the Lord. Yea, I will cause men to walk upon you, even my people Israel; and they shall possess thee, and thou shalt be their inheritance."
When the children of Israel first possessed the land of Israel, it was a land of lush fruitfulness. However, when they were scattered to the four corners of the earth, because of refusing to walk in God's commandments, the land became barren and unfruitful and turned into deserts and malarial swamps. But, now they are coming back to the land, God has spoken to the land to bring forth fruit again. When they plant and water in this barren land it comes to life.
And God wants them to possess it again with vineyards and olive trees as the prophets prophesied would happen when they come back to the land. God wants all the hills of Samaria built up with towns and planted with vineyards, olive groves, and gardens.
This area of Israel is the very place where the children of Israel first established themselves in the land. They put down the tabernacle at Shiloh and made it permanent. What a privilege it was to stand on the site where the tabernacle was situated. But, although God gave the land to His people, they had to go in and possess it.
It is the same today. God has never revoked His divine promise of giving this land to His people for an everlasting possession. However, as in the beginning, they still have to possess it again today (Joshua 18:3). Pray for the farmers on the West Bank as they struggle to possess the land in the midst of many enemies. They face constant setbacks and attacks. The enemy is attacking what God wants to do, therefore we must do battle in prayer.
Amos 9:14-15 says, "And I will bring again the captivity of my people of Israel, and they shall build the waste cities, and inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, and drink the wine thereof; they shall also make gardens, and eat the fruit of them. And I will plant them upon their land, and they shall no more be pulled up out of their land which I have given them, saith the Lord thy God."
FAMILY MISSION TRIP
If you would like to do a mission trip to serve the Lord as a family, you may like to pray about helping in the vineyards of Samaria and enjoying the privilege of fulfilling Bible prophecy. There is no greater privilege. It is also a wonderful opportunity for young people. If you are interested, go to www.hayovel.com.
Tommy and Sherri Waller, and their family of 11 children, have been serving the farmers by helping them harvest their vineyards for the last eight years. But, now they come with more than their 11 children. Three of the oldest sons are married, and one more to be married soon, and now the grandchildren are coming on. And they still keep coming as a family. They are an amazing example of serving the Lord together as a family. They also bring in teams from all over the world to help them in this great task.
By the way, you may have seen the story of the Waller Family called A Journey Home, and also Betrothed, the story of Braden and Tali's betrothal. Braden is the oldest son of Tommy and Sherri. Go to: http://bit.ly/BetrothedDVD
CHEER UP!

"I just got your Cheer Up! book last week and I am so grateful! I want to encourage other moms to get one, especially if you are in my situation. I have an unsaved husband and it is very discouraging day in and day out to be the only Christian parent in the home. I've been praying for him for 17 years now. I also have a few extended family members who are saved (many are not), but those who are, do not believe the beautiful biblical job descriptions for us women to be wives, mothers, and nation builders from our homes. What a blessing to know that every morning I can open up my Cheer Up! book and know that I will start my day with true biblical encouragement regarding the value and power of biblical womanhood. This book is a treasure!"

100 DAYS OF BLESSING, VOLUME 2
I am now beginning to prepare 100 DAYS OF BLESSING, VOLUME 2. I know so many of you have been waiting for this and it is my next project after completing this newsletter to you..
If you haven't yet read 100 DAYS OF BLESSING VOLUME 1, you won't want to miss out.
Some readers have commented...
"I just started reading this devotional, but it's already rocking my world. I've read lots of devotionals for moms/wives, but they're sissy in comparison with this one. This one is meaty and challenging and so encouraging! It makes you think on it all day long. It is very well put together with the scriptures, prayer, affirmation, and teaching. It's easy to read and very real!"
"The best devotional I have ever read! I just bought three more for family and friends. I am reading this to my daughters and they are loving it too!"
"You will find no fluff here. Nancy Campbell covers so many things that mothers face on a daily basis. It's like having a Titus 2 woman right there in the trenches with me to encourage and support me along the way. It reminds me that we are not just to survive motherhood, but we are to be victorious, joyful mothers!"
"WOW! Do I love this book! I've never had such an encouraging and directing devotional."
"It's so good I can't help but devour it!"
"I could barely put it down! I am soooo excited about this wonderful, powerful book!"
"This is the best devotional book for moms I have ever seen. I can't even begin to tell you how amazing it is; yes it's THAT good!"
"Every night I read one of these devotions before bed and I'm re-energized to meet
the next day. Nancy has such a gift of encouragement and reminding us what is really important!"
"I love this devotional so much that I just purchased a few for my friends! I have had other devotionals but never one that encouraged me so much in my role as a mom and wife. I read it every morning while sipping my Yerba mate tea!"
"Each and every one of these devotions spoke to my heart, and were so encouraging. I can't wait for the next volume!"
It is also a wonderful idea for gifts for friends and family, for Baby Showers, Birthdays, and especially with Christmas coming up.

HELP PROTECT TRADITIONAL MARRIAGE
Megan Hutson at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. writes...
For the first time in history, "same-sex" marriage activists have pursued a ballot measure to redefine marriage. If passed, the marriage amendment in Maine will “re-define” marriage as a genderless institution.
A new, re-defined version of marriage would be the only legally recognized definition of marriage in Maine.
Citizens, small businesses, and religious organizations would not be allowed to let their beliefs and traditions determine their decisions, and they would find themselves in legal trouble if they do not comply with the new law's heavy-handed mandates. Those who do not agree with the law will be treated as racists and bigots and punished accordingly. A few examples include:
Religious groups like Catholic Charities in Boston and Washington DC have had to choose between fulfilling their social mission based on their religious beliefs, or acquiescing to this new definition of marriage. They have, for example, been forced to close their charitable adoption agencies. Nonprofit groups are faced with abandoning their historic mission principles in order to maintain governmental contracts (for things like low-income housing, health clinics, etc.)
In Massachusetts, children as young as second grade were taught about gay marriage in class. The courts ruled that parents had no right to prior notice, or to opt their children out of such instruction.
Wedding professionals have been fined for refusing to participate in a same-sex ceremony.
Christian innkeepers in Vermont and Illinois are being sued over their refusal to make their facilities available for same-sex weddings despite offers to refer the couples to other providers and in spite of the deeply-held religious views of the inn-keepers.
We ask that supporters of family values and traditional marriage join us in our cause to defend Traditional Marriage.
They can join our cause by donating $25, $59, $129, or even $1,999 right now to Protect Traditional Marriage. Because this is an issue campaign, there are no legal limits to what you can legally contribute. Moreover, churches can provide financial support as well. Several churches in Maine are committing to donating no less than $1,000, with larger churches donating much more. We highly encourage churches from all over the U.S. to join us in this battle.
I wish I could individually express to each of your readers the consequences of this ballot proposal if passed, but clearly the consequence are dire. We are asking supporters to join together and make a generous donation today to defend Traditional Marriage.
This election will have national implications and your help is needed. More information about the campaign can be found on the website here. Donations can be made here.
Thank you in advance for your careful consideration and generous support.
I look forward to hearing from you!

P.S. Here is an article of a Vermont Innkeeper who refused to host a wedding for a lesbian couple because of religious beliefs. The Innkeeper was sued and now has to pay $30,000!
HELP FOR RWANDA
Emmanuel Sitaki at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. writes...
"Hi Nancy, Would you please, help me to spread the vision?
Equipping, Restoring, and Multiplying (ERM) is a Christian Interdenominational, Interracial Ministry 501(C)(3) nonprofit, a Holistic Evangelism dedicated to helping the people of Rwanda and beyond, turn away from a horrific past and look ahead to a future built on Christ, economic stability, educational excellence and strong communities.
ERM operation is to deliver long lasting practical solutions with focus on care for orphaned, poor children, and the widowed of Rwanda, hence equipping the future generation of godly Christian leaders. ERM Ministries was founded in 1996 by a survivor of the 1994 Rwandan genocide, Emmanuel Sitaki Kayinamura to respond to both physical and spiritual needs of people of Rwanda and the Great Lakes Region of Central East Africa.
The genocide physically eradicated more than one million innocents Rwandans, but it did not destroy the living spirit of hope, faith, and determination of survivors.
OBJECTIVE OF PROGRAM FOR WIDOWS AND ORPHANS UNITED FOR A COMMUNITY
- To bring hope for a future to the widowed by inspiring, training, and equipping them with knowledge, skills, and hands on income generating activities that would boost their livelihood.
- For long term sustainability, we intend to develop income generating projects in the area of animal rearing, business, and transport services.
- To initiate a Grant/credit scheme to help poor families start a business or project to support themselves.
- To inspire, train, and equip the widowed women who lost everything from the 1994 genocide with skill to improve their economic and social welfare, to break out of the poverty cycle and have a meaningful living.
- To empower the widows economically by assisting them to start generating activities for a living.
- In this way we aim to develop the communities they are living in.
WIDOWS SPONSORSHIP PROGRAM
Why sponsor a widow in Rwanda? How much does it cost to sponsor a widow in Rwanda?
With $40.00 per month, you can give hope for the future of a wounded widow from the 1994 genocide in Rwanda.
What is the benefit? This program is unique! When we have 5 to 10 widows sponsored, we group them in a cooperative for starting a small business and each one will be accountable to each one for the success and the growth of their small businesses.

KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK
Please don't listen to the lies of well-meaning friends and family who demean your powerful and divine calling of motherhood. You are doing what God created you to do. You are in the perfect will of God. Lift up your head, put a smile on your face, and rejoice that you are doing an eternal work.
Every other career in which women get involved outside of the home will pass away. They can't take it to eternity with them. But, motherhood is an eternal career. Your children are eternal souls, born to live forever. You will take them to eternity with you. The more children you have, the more you will impact this earth for God, and the more you will fill eternity.
Be excited. Be encouraged. You couldn't be doing anything greater.
Look out for the new magazine coming.
Much love and blessings to you and your home from NANCY
