Don’t forget that you are in the most important career in this nation as you train the next generation to be a godly generation who will be a light in the “gross” darkness (Isaiah 60:1-2) and who will push back the encroachments of the enemy. It is a mighty task. You are preparing “navy seals” for God’s kingdom who will know how to fight the enemy and take territory for God.

I am now preparing the new edition of Above Rubies.
Last weekend I was talking to a mother to whom the medical profession told her that her baby may have abnormalities and they wanted her and her husband to have genetic counseling. Of course, they refused and their baby was born perfectly normal, a most beautiful child.
I would love to receive testimonies from other mothers who have received similar diagnoses and have even been encouraged to abort their baby, but have refused and their baby has been born perfectly normal. Can you imagine how many babies could have been aborted unnecessarily by those who fear the words of medical counselors?
Of course, there are times when a baby is born with abnormalities or Down’s syndrome, but that is not a reason to abort a precious life. Every mother whom I know personally who has a Down’s syndrome child confesses that they are the greatest blessing to their family.

PDF FILE OF FAMILY TREES
Do you remember reading the article in Above Rubies # 78 about Family Trees? It showed the huge prolific tree of the Steiner family who lived at the beginning of the 20th century. A descendant of the family found this picture and decided to make it more realistic to our modern day and so pruned the tree so that every family only had four children each (quite a large number in today’s society). It’s amazing to see how stunted the tree looks.
Colin and I then decided to make it even more realistic and prune it down to two children each. It hardly looks like a tree! If you haven’t seen these pictures, you must. A picture is worth a thousand words!

AFRICAN ABOVE RUBIES
I still have all the African packages of Above Rubies waiting to send, well over a thousand of them, but I do not have the funds to send them out. There is such a cry for Above Rubies across the countries of Africa. Many pastors have up to 100 churches under their care and some ask for 1,000 magazines to share amongst their people. I can only afford to send them one magazine! The shipping is so exorbitant to Africa and they are not in a position to pay for their magazines. The need to strengthen marriages, motherhood and family life is desperate in Africa. They need this message of truth.

HYMN OF COURAGE
Each Tuesday evening we have a prayer meeting in our little community of Primm Springs, Tennessee. We hold it either at our home or in the Jobe’s home (long-standing citizens of Primm Springs). Folk from different denominations gather together in unity to pray for the needs in our district, our nation, and other countries. We have not failed to gather together for the last 10 years. Each Tuesday evening, we get out the hymnbooks, sing a few of the great old hymns and then get to prayer.
Last night we sang a hymn that I hadn’t sung before. Well, I knew the tune well as it is sung to the tune of Guide me, O thou Great Jehovah. However, the words were new to me. I would love to share them with you as I think they are powerful. If you know the tune of Guide me, O thou Great Jehovah, you may like to sing them together as a family at your Family Devotions this evening. I think we’ll be singing it often at our Family Devotions.
It is a prayer for wisdom and courage to face this hour. I believe these words are more needful now than when they were written.

IT’S GETTING CLOSE
At each of the last two Above Rubies retreats I asked a question: “After reading An Overflowing Land in the current issue of Above Rubies, who has gone to the link

Guess what? At both retreats not one person put up their hand! If I had been in the audience and a speaker had asked that question, I most probably would be one who didn’t put up my hand either! I understand. I know how busy life is. But I felt sad, not for the hours of time I spent putting these Scriptures together, but because I don’t think that most people realize the importance of these Scriptures.
In a very short time, on the 20 September, this month, each country in the world is going to be pressured to vote for a Palestinian state and for Israel go back to their 1967 borders. This land is rightfully theirs, not only won in victory, but given to them by divine covenant. There is so much propaganda that comes through the media and it is easy for even God’s people to be deceived. The only way we can know the truth and be kept from deception is to know the Word, to know what God says. What God says is the final back stop!
Therefore, can I encourage you, if you haven’t already to go to this link, http://bit.ly/EverlastingPossesion and you could perhaps print it out. You most probably don’t have the time to sit for hours and look up all the Scriptures, but you may like to read a few Scriptures each day in your own Quiet Time. Or even take some of them as a theme for reading at your Family Devotions with your family. It is not only important for you to understand God’s heart for Israel, but for each one of your children, from the youngest to theoldest. Most of the prophecies in the Word are all going to happen in Israel and Jerusalem and therefore it is important that both we, and our children are not ignorant of what God is doing in this hour.
And don’t forget to pray morning and evening as a family for Israel and that God will work mighty miracles.
POEMS FOR YOUR SONS
Some time back I wrote a couple of poems for my grandsons. Here they are for you to print out for your sons if you think they will be a blessing to them.

Body, Soul and Spirit!
Keep yourself pure, spirit, body and soul,

When from God’s Word you read and glean.

PARENT’S RIGHTS

TEENAGE GIRL PARALYZED
After reading the following, you may like to encourage your daughters to write some special things to encourage Naomi. You could even make it a homeschooling project.

“Naomi is a sweet friend of mine, 16 years of age and dedicated to the Almighty's will and passionately in love with Him, striving to live her life as a light and testimony for Him. She just recently encountered an illness that has left her totally paralyzed, with her only movement being in her toes and the tips of her fingers. She is very hopeful and positive, and we are praying that she will get her movement back again, but it looks like a long road ahead.
I would like to put together a special book for her which her family could show her. I think it would be a real encouragement to her. If each woman or girl who receives this letter could send a contribution, I could compile them all together and it would make a very lovely book. Some ideas would be song lyrics, poems (either original or otherwise), Scriptures, encouraging letters and art work.
One word of caution. Please do not write that you are so sorry this has happened. I don't think that Naomi wants people to feel sorry for her. She is such a bright encouragement! I called to talk to her and encourage her, and she encouraged me! She has a precious personality, and only wants the Heavenly Father to be glorified through all of this. Our family went to an orphanage in Ukraine to adopt two little boys, Timur and Misha. It was there that I met Levina, who was six years old and 15 pounds. She was starving to death. Dear Levina is blind, she has microcephally (a small head), no knee joints and was supposedly born with brain damage and other complications. Levina needs a family to come quickly for her. A family who will grant her wish before it’s too late. THE CULMINATING MOMENT
What is the culminating moment in your day? In our home it is when we sit down at the evening meal and enjoy fellowship together and then enjoy Family Devotions together—reading the Word, praying for this nation and countries of the world and perhaps singing a hymn together. I am always aware that taking this time, morning and evening, to stop all other activity and listen to the living Word of God and pray, is the VERY LEAST that we can give God in the day. It is great to have time on our own to spend in the Word, but I know that as a busy mother, you don’t often get the time to do this as you would like. But, you will never miss out, when you stop twice a day, as a family, to take time to hear from God and speak to Him.
I love both the morning and evening times, but the evening is often more special. We sit around a lovely meal and can spend more time than we can in the morning.
We see that even Jesus was aware of this when He spoke the famous words in Revelation 3:20, “Behold, I stand at the door, and know: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.” The word “sup” in the Greek is the exact same word that is used for “supper, the main evening meal.” Even Webster’s 1928 dictionary says that “sup” means “to eat the evening meal, to treat with supper.”
Jesus was saying, “When I come into your life, I want to have the kind of relationship and fellowship with you that you have when you sit around and commune together at the end of the day at the supper meal.” This is what “supping” is all about. It’s not only eating, but fellowshipping. It’s not only feeding our body, but feeding our soul and our spirit. The only way our spirit is fed is through the living Word of God. Don’t ever let your children leave the table before you feed their spirit as well as their body.
