PRAYER BOXES

I hope you have read the article entitled, OUR PRAYER BOX. (If you live overseas and are still waiting for your magazine, you can go to: http://tinyurl.com/OurPrayerBox). It tells you about such a good idea for teaching your children how to really pray for urgent needs and the nations of the world. Jesus called the temple a "house of prayer." But it was also a house of worship. The Levites worshipped with singing and instruments throughout the whole time of the morning and even sacrifices. The Decalogue was also kept in the temple and therefore it was a house of God's Commandments, but Jesus did not call it either of these. He stated emphatically, "My house shall be called the house of prayer" (Matthew 21:13).

As we seek to build a house for the Lord, it should also be known, above everything else, as a "house of prayer." May God help you to make a commitment to making your home a "house of prayer." It's not always easy, is it? Let me tell you a little secret. Satan will try to do everything he can to stop you from praying together as a family. He won't tempt you with evil things because he knows you would never submit to that kind of temptation. Instead, he tempts you with good things, but nonetheless, things that take up your time and hinder you from praying. He doesn't care whether they are good or bad, as long as you don't pray. He is scared of prayer more than anything else because prayer has the power to bind up his evil workings.

You will find that children love taking the cards out of the Prayer Box (or boxes, if you decide to have a Family Box and a Urgent Needs Box). Our grandchildren love it and they all want a turn to hand around the box. They are all excited to pick their card and see what they have to pray about.

Don't forget to go to this link to find out ideas of what you can write on your cards: http://tinyurl.com/IdeasForPrayerCards

I will also list here the other links I mentioned in the magazine. It is so much easier to clink on a link than to laboriously copy it into your URL, isn't it?

YOUR FAMILY CAN CHANGE THE WORLD

While we are on the subject of prayer, I am reminded of the statement from my husband, Colin, which I printed in the magazine: "Prayer has the power to change the world. Without it the world has the power to change us!"

Psalm 66:7 says, "He ruleth by his power forever; his eyes BEHOLD the nations." God is daily and constantly watching over the nations of the world. Yes, He knows the terrible things that are happening in Iraq, Syria, Nigeria, North Korea and so many nations of the world.

The word "behold" is tsaphah and means "to lean forward, to peer into the distance, to look well, to espy, to be a watchman." Although we see evil increasing, God is still in the picture. He must long to bring an end to evil and injustice, but He has "long patience" as He waits for "the precious fruit of the earth," the harvest of souls for His eternal kingdom (James 5:7).

But dear ladies, if our hearts beat with God's heart, we will also BEHOLD the nations of the world. We will not only be burdened with the little needs in our home, but with the burden of the nations. We will have a heart to pray for "all nations, kindreds, and people, and tongues" (Revelation 7:9).

Forgive me harping on, but I can't encourage you enough to gather your precious family together each day to pray, not only for your own needs, but for the nations. Pray for the nations who are persecuting Christians. Pray for the nations who are suffering with war such as Iraq and Syria. Pray for the unreached nations of the world.

Let's lead our children from selfish prayers that are only about themselves to feeling God's heartbeat for the lost of the world.

PRAYING FAMILIES ARE THE MOST POWERFUL FORCE ON EARTH!

VIKING PARTY

You will see pictures of lots of our Dress Up parties in the editorial of the new magazine. I could have filled the magazine with so many amazing pictures. Just after I sent the magazine to print we had another party--Zadok's birthday, and he decided to have a Viking Birthday Party. Here are a few pictures of them dressed up as Vikings.

WORTH MORE THAN RUBIES

Here is a lovely poem which KRISTIN EASON of El Dorado Springs, Missouri sent me today. I know you'll love it. Her email is This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

Where are the mothers who work hard with their hands,

Building their homes, obeying God’s commands?

Where are the mothers who sing to their child,

Who brighten the day with only their smile?

Where are the mothers who pray for the nation,

Who lead all their children to the God of creation?

Where are the mothers who rock their babies to sleep,

Tending young hearts as our Shepherd does His sheep?

Where are the mothers who make home-cooked meals,

Who kiss the boo-boos, and on bedsides she kneels?

Where are the mothers who raise Kingdom shakers,

Receiving each child as a gift from the Maker?

They are hidden in homes that the world doesn’t see,

Their worth--more than gold and rare as rubies!

WHICH WORLDVIEW?

Recently I shared on Facebook my concerns about some current issues such as "dying with dignity," and the concern about Islam teaching and the gay agenda becoming more invasive in our public schools. I have to admit that I was quite astounded at the reaction, even from Christian people. Many responded back with the "judge not that ye be not judged." Thinking about this I have written another little post which I will share with you here . . .

"Are we teaching our children from a biblical worldview or a humanist worldview? Here are some scenarios:

1. Your car is stolen. What is your response?

a) Mother: "Isn't it terrible that our car is stolen, children? However, even though it is so inconvenient for us we must not judge the one who stole it as God doesn't want us to judge anyone."

Or b) Mother: "Children, last night our car was stolen. We must pray for the person who stole it that God will convict him and he will give it back. You can see, children, how stealing is very selfish because it hurts and inconviences the people they steal from. God's Word tells us that we must not steal (Exodus 20:15; Leviticus 19:11 and Ephesians 4:28). In fact, God says in 1 Corinthians 6:10 that no "Thieves . . . shall inherit the kingdom of God." God's puts His laws into the universe to bless us.

2. Your children lie to you. What is your response?

a) Mother at the breakfast table: "Remember yesterday I told you all that no one was to take any of the special cookies I baked for the party we are going to tonight? This morning I find that three cookies are missing. Who took them?"

Jacob: "I didn't, Mommy."

Ethan: "Neither did I!"

Olivia: "I would never do that."

Mother: "There is no one else in this house who could take them. We're not starting breakfast until you own up." After a long time and children getting rather hungry they own up!

Mother: "I'm so glad you owned up, but we shouldn't judge one another, so let's just get on with breakfast."

Or b) "Thank you for owning up children. But even worse than stealing the cookies is the fact that you lied to Mommy. Did you know that lying is very serious to God? The Bible says that "all liars shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone" (Revelation 21:8). When we are on God's side we love truth because He is the God of truth. When we lie, we are on the devil's side because John 8: 44 tells us that the devil is "a liar, and the father of it." I want you to be children who are always on God's side. Therefore, Mommy is going to have to discipline you so you can learn the importance of not telling lies. We are going to cancel going to the party tonight." (Or whatever discipline is appropriate).

3. Neighbors are different. What is your response?

Emma: "Mommy, who are those people who moved in over the road from us? They have a little child, but they have two mommies instead of a mommy and a daddy."

a) Mother: "Yes, they are different from us, Emma. They are "gay" people, but we mustn't judge them. We wouldn't live that way, but today people are free to live whatever alternative lifestyle they want."

Or b) Mother: "Emma, I am so very sorry to have to tell you that these people are living the opposite way God intends us to live. God tells us in His Word that if two men or two women live together like a husband and wife that it is an abomination in God's sight. The Bible tells us in Ephesians 5:3 that these things shouldn't even be mentioned among God's people. We'll look up some Scriptures later so you can see what God says: Leviticus 18:22; 20:13, Romans 1:26-28, 32; 1 Corinthians 6:9-12; 1 Timothy 1:10; Jude 1:7; Revelation 21:8. Of course, we must love them and pray for them because Jesus loves them, died for them, and wants to forgive them of their sin if they will repent and turn to Him. But we must always stand on God's side and stand against what God says is an abomination."

Dear mothers, of course you are seeking to lead your children in the ways of righteousness which means standing with God's Word, no matter what society says. We are either filling our children with the truth of God's Word or being sucked into the mantra of the humanists and the "religion of tolerance."

It doesn't matter whether it is disobedience, lying, abortion, euthanasia, "dying with dignity" or sexual immorality. We must always check out what God says in His Word and stick by it. Don't be mesmerized or propagandized along with so many in the church today who have succumbed to the "judge not that ye be not judged" chant in reply to all judgment of evil."

I know the above does not address the Scripture teaching of "judge not that ye be not judged." I am working on that as I write an answer to this subject. The problem is that it's already got to eleven pages and I haven't finished yet! I believe the subject of any doctrine in God's Word is not what one Scripture says but what God says about that subject from Genesis to Revelation.

May you be very blessed and have a wonderful THANKSGIVING with your precious family.

Blessings from Nancy Campbell
