Families with several children are often bombarded with comments and questions, and wonder how to best respond. Listen carefully to the words of Psalm 128: "Blessed is every one that feareth the LORD; that walketh in his ways. For thou shalt eat the labour of thine hands: happy shalt thou be, and it shall be well with thee. Thy wife shall be as a fruitful vine by the sides of thine house: thy children like olive plants round about thy table. Behold, that thus shall the man be blessed that feareth the LORD."
Those that fear the Lord and walk in His ways shall be blessed because they:
- 1) benefit from their labour,
- 2) are happy and well
- 3) have fruitful wives (have you ever noticed how a vine grows and spreads along the wall of a house?)
- 4) have children around their tables.
I didn't make this up, the Psalm says so.
Next time someone makes a comment to me about my 11 children, or my wanting more children, I shall answer like this. "We are just living the Psalm 128 life!" That should get them reading the Scriptures, and what will there be to debate after that? ;)
