THE THREE DAY GAP, No. 3 - COMPROMISE No. 3 - LEAVE THE CHILDREN BEHIND

LetPeopleGoExodus 8:1: “The LORD spake unto Moses, Go unto Pharaoh, and say unto him, Thus saith the LORD, LET MY PEOPLE GO, that they may serve me.”

Exodus 9:1: “The LORD said unto Moses, Go in unto Pharaoh, and tell him, Thus saith the LORD God of the Hebrews, LET MY PEOPLE GO, that they may serve me.”

Hebrews 10:3: “And Moses and Aaron came in unto Pharaoh, and said unto him, Thus saith the LORD God of the Hebrews, How long wilt thou refuse to humble thyself before me? LET MY PEOPLE GO, that they may serve me.” The main purpose for the Israelites to leave the bondage of Egypt was to be free to serve God with sacrifice and offerings, coupled with complete adherence to His laws.

The third compromise that Pharaoh offered Moses was that all of the people of Israel were to remain in Egypt, except the men.

We read about this compromise in Exodus 10:8-11: “And Moses and Aaron were brought again unto Pharaoh: and he said unto them, Go, serve the LORD your God: but who are they that shall go? And Moses said, We will go with our young and with our old, with our sons and with our daughters, with our flocks and with our herds will we go, for we must hold a feast unto the LORD.”

And what did Pharaoh reply? “Not so: go now ye that are men.”

The problem today is that we Christians have fallen for this compromise with our modern day Pharaohs. Somewhere and somehow we decided that Egypt’s education was better for our sons and daughters than the education God wants for our children. We men have given over ourselves, our wives, and our young and our old, to a humanistic government to look after us and provide for us. This results in our failing to look to God to provide, lead, and guide.

Our state teaching institutions are hot beds for humanism, socialism, agnosticism, and atheism. Moses had it right, no matter how tempting. Egypt had the best education system, outside of God, the world at that time had to offer. But Moses would have none of it. Nor even a bar of it! Even though he grew up in that education system himself. It took 40 years for God to get that education out of Moses in order to prepare him to be one of the greatest leaders in history.

Why would we submit our precious children to have their heads crammed full of humanistic propaganda and ungodly morals? We must never forget the mighty signs and wonders God did in Egypt in order to show that generation, and generations to come, that He wants His people free from all bondage.

God spoke to Moses when he was on his way back to deliver His people from Egypt: “And thou shalt say unto Pharaoh, Thus saith the LORD, Israel is my son, even my firstborn: And I say unto thee, Let my son go, that he may serve me: and if thou refuse to let him go, behold, I will slay thy son, even thy firstborn” (Exodus 4:22, 23).

God did not pay such a high price for us so that we could decide for ourselves how close to Egypt (the world) we should live. Or that we should sacrifice our children to “Egyptian” colleges or get caught up in “Egypt’s” worldly system. God wrought mighty signs and wonders in Egypt so that His people would be free to serve Him where He wanted them.

We must teach our families that having been delivered out of Egypt, serving God is not optional. Where we camp is not optional. We must keep the three day gap. It is part of our reasonable service as we are exhorted in Romans 12:1: “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, ACCEPTABLE UNTO GOD, which is your REASONABLE service.”

Be encouraged.
